Chapter 71: 19. Let’s Just Burn Her at the Stake - 4

"What do I do? What do I do? What am I supposed to do?!"

Marin regretted making a deal with the witch.

She had succeeded in cursing Isolde as she wanted, but in return, she had lost her virginity.

And it had been to Ian, the most respected man in the village.

What was more, her dealings with the witch had been exposed.

It would not have been an exaggeration to say her life was over.

"I’m ruined. My life is ruined..."

"Sis, are you okay?"

Pure and innocent as a child, Lily approached to comfort her crying sister.

All she could do was pat her sister on the back.

"Be quiet! This is all your fault."

"S-sorry."

But Marin took out her anger on her blameless little sister.

"If you’d offered up your virginity in my place, none of this would’ve happened!"

"Virginity? I don’t know what you mean, but I’m sorry."

"Ha, fuck! This is so irritating! Why do I have a sister like you—!"

Marin continued venting her frustration at Lily.

But only for a moment.

"Ian, what brings you here at this hour?"

Ian’s sudden visit made Marin freeze stiff.

W-wait, did he come here to arrest me?

Holding her breath, Marin pricked up her ears and eavesdropped on Ian’s conversation with her father, Walter.

"Walter, do you know there will be a burning at the stake this evening?"

"Of course I do. Didn’t you say you would be overseeing it?"

"Yes. No matter how terrible a person Finn may be, he is still from this village. It would surely weigh heavily on the villagers to harm one of their own. Since I do not have deep ties here yet, I thought it would be better for me to do it, so I proposed it to the village chief."

"Haha, your thoughtfulness never ceases to amaze me. How can a man be so considerate?"

"Thank you. I am only trying my best to love my wife’s village."

"Just as I thought, you and I have much in common. But I doubt that is what you came here to discuss."

"I came to speak with Marin."

"Marin? Has something happened?"

"It is about what happened in the forest."

"The forest? Haa... I told her not to go there, yet she went again anyway."

"Please do not scold Marin too harshly. She had her reasons."

"I suppose we will find out if we ask her. Marin, come outside."

At her father’s call, Marin bit her lip.

She did not have the courage to face Ian directly right now.

Fuck, just imagining his face makes my body burn up.

The curse of nymphomania was gone, but its lingering effects remained.

Crude, sensual sex. Though a day had passed, Marin still remembered that day as vividly as if it had just happened.

"Marin!"

"I-I’m coming."

Pressed by Walter, Marin had no choice but to leave her room.

"Did you go to the forest again?"

"Well..."

Marin could not answer Walter’s question.

Please, don’t tell Dad.

Marin silently pleaded with Ian.

Because Ian, not her, held the knife by the handle now.

If Ian revealed everything here, Marin’s life would truly be over.

"Walter, please do not reprimand her too harshly. Marin was desperate."

"Whew... Marin, did you have a reason you absolutely had to go to the forest?"

Fortunately, rather than expose the truth, Ian defended Marin instead.

"There is a superstition among young women about a Love Flower. They say that if you find one, you can marry the man you love. Marin went to the forest looking for it."

"Does something like that really work?"

"It has no real effect, but it can give a person courage."

"What a strange superstition."

"Marin is trying to get married, too. Why not be understanding and let it go this time?"

"Tsk. If that is the reason, I cannot scold her any further."

With Ian defending her so fervently, Walter could not reprimand Marin too severely.

As her father, Walter could accept to some extent that his daughter believed in such superstitions.

"Marin, at least tell your father before you go next time. The forest is truly dangerous."

"Okaaay..."

"I will accompany her next time."

"Could you do that?"

"Yes. I will merely keep an eye on her while I am out hunting, so there is no need to feel burdened."

"I feel terrible that I only ever seem to receive help from you."

"It is all right. At times like these, neighbors should help one another."

Ordinarily, a father would object to his daughter being alone with an unrelated man, but Walter regarded Ian as a devoted husband, just like himself.

And if Ian was a devoted husband like him, Walter could entrust his daughter to him.

"Also, may I speak with Marin alone? There is something we need to discuss regarding the Love Flower."

"All right. If I interfere any further, I will become the father who keeps his daughter from getting married."

Before going back inside, Walter warned Marin.

"Marin, even if Ian is helping you, do not behave improperly."

"O-okay."

"And think carefully. Other men are not like Ian."

"I said I know!"

Walter sighed at Marin’s irritated reply and went back into the house.

Now alone with Ian, Marin could not say anything for a while and merely watched him cautiously.

"Um..."

Marin was the first to speak.

Growing impatient, she asked what Ian was really thinking.

"Why did you hide the truth?"

"Before I answer, shall we talk while taking a walk?"

"Y-you’re speaking formally to me."

"If that makes you uncomfortable, I can speak casually."

"I-I think I’d prefer that. You’re older than me, after all."

Ian let out a small smile at Marin, who was stammering from being so nervous.

"Marin, you want to marry John, don’t you?"

"H-how did you know that?"

"It was obvious from the way you cursed Isolde. Everyone in the village knows that Isolde and John are dating."

"They are dating, but John has no intention of marrying Isolde."

"Oh? You have a good eye."

When they reached the cowshed, Ian held out his hand to Marin and made an offer.

"I’ll help you marry John."

"Is that possible?"

"Normally, no. But that does not mean there is no way."

"...What do you want from me?"

Marin was not stupid.

She knew Ian would not help her for no reason.

"It is not difficult."

Pointing at a cow, Ian said,

"Become my dairy cow."

"What?"

"Have you forgotten? You were making cow noises while we were having sex. Keep doing that from now on, and that will be enough."

"Urgh—."

Marin’s face instantly turned bright red.

Whenever she recalled having sex with him, her body heated up on its own.

He’s insane. Insane! He wants to do that to me again?

Marin wanted to slap Ian across the face.

Ian had said he would treat her not as a person, but as nothing more than livestock.

It was something no woman could accept, but she had no right to refuse.

Ian already had a leash around her neck.

"You fucking pervert. You filthy bastard. I feel sorry for your wife."

All she could do was curse at Ian.

"A pervert... I suppose you could see me that way. I ended up like this because someone gave me the curse of nymphomania."

"Th-that was..."

Ian was right.

Having experienced firsthand how terrifying the curse of nymphomania was, Marin had some idea of how much he had suffered.

"S-still, you have a wife! Why are you trying to relieve yourself with me?!"

"You want me to make my beloved wife suffer because of you? Shall I report your deal with the witch to the Church?"

"Fuck... Fine. I’ll do it, all right?! I’ll be your dairy cow!"

With tears welling in her eyes, Marin finally surrendered to Ian.

"But you have to keep your promise. I can marry John, right?"

"It is possible. But before that, let me ask you one thing."

Ian grabbed Marin’s braided hair and yanked it.

Marin’s face crumpled at the rough act, but she could not say anything.

She was no longer a human being now. She was a dairy cow.

She could not dare defy her master.

Watching Marin’s reaction, Ian asked her,

"Do you really love John?"

. . .

Where are those two going?

Curious by nature, Lily followed Marin as she went off with Ian.

The place they went was the cowshed.

Is Sis introducing our cow to Ian?

Lily liked Ian.

He traded delicious meat for her family’s milk.

That was why she eagerly waited for Ian to visit every evening.

"I want to talk with them too."

Normally, Lily would have gone right over, but perhaps because her sister had scolded her earlier, she hesitated.

Hmph, what if Sis hates me? But I’m so curious...

In the end, unable to restrain her curiosity, Lily pressed her ear against the cowshed wall and listened in on what they were saying.

"Suck, suck, suck, suck. Mooohhh—♥"

Along with sucking noises came the sound of a dairy cow mooing.

Strangely, Marin’s voice could be heard amid the cow’s cries.

Ah! Sis is playing with the cow!

Since Lily had done it herself before, she did not find it strange.

Instead, she copied her sister and made a cow noise.

"Moo~"

"Mmph?!"

At the strange sound that came from her sister, Lily clamped a hand over her mouth.

Gasp, did Sis notice me?

At a loss, Lily fidgeted and darted about.

She considered running away, but then listened again at the sounds coming from within.

"I’m going to come."

"Mmph! Mmph!"

"Swallow every last drop."

Sploosh! Gurgle, sploosh!

At the sound of something sloshing, Lily’s particular curiosity was piqued.

The sounds are strange. And I think I smell something good!

Grrr...

The scent reaching her nose made Lily hungry.

Gasp! Is Sis secretly getting something tasty from Ian without letting me know?

Unable to hold back her appetite, Lily immediately entered the cowshed.

"Sis! I want some too! Give me something tasty too!"

"L-Lily?!"

As though she really had been secretly eating something, Marin covered her mouth with her hand the moment she saw Lily.

Seeing her sister like that, Lily became certain.

She definitely ate something tasty without me!

Curious about what food her sister had eaten, Lily sniffed the air.

"Sniff, sniff. Is it bread? Or fruit? I want some too. I’m hungry."

"It is not something like that."

"It is too! There is something around your mouth!"

"Th-this is..."

Seeing the curly hair stuck around her mouth, Marin made a dizzy expression.

"It is honey. Very thick, sticky honey."

"Honey?! I want some too. Ian, can’t you give me some?"

"I am sorry, Lily. Your sister Marin ate all the delicious honey."

"Hmph, that is so mean."

Disappointed by Ian’s words, Lily puffed out her cheeks and sulked.

To comfort her, Ian stroked her head.

"Next time, I will prepare some so that Lily can have some too."

"Really?"

"Yes. Your sister Marin will help. Right, Marin?"

"Yeah..."

At Ian’s call, Marin’s body gave a small shudder. Seeing that, Lily grew worried about her sister.

Does Sis have a cold?
