Chapter 30: Let’s Have Our Wedding Again - 1

I headed to the church with Isabelle.

I wanted to introduce her to Reina, who would be with us from now on.

"Ian, what kind of person is Sister Reina?"

"...She’s an incredible nun in many ways."

Her usual conduct was outrageously lewd, but Reina was a candidate for sainthood.

And not just any candidate—she was closer to becoming a Saintess than anyone else.

Her innate talent was extraordinary.

According to the setting, the divine power Reina had been born with surpassed that of every Saintess in history, and no one could rival her talent for wielding miracles.

That was probably why Reina had been dispatched to the church in Entiel Village.

They believed that Reina, with talent surpassing everyone else’s, would surely be able to find Angel’s Rest.

Yet in reality, she had lost her virginity at the request of a man from the village. It was quite ironic.

"Ian!"

When we arrived at the church, Reina greeted me.

But only briefly. Apparently dissatisfied about something, Reina puffed out her cheeks and complained.

"You said you’d come see me last night."

"I meant to, but someone caused an incident in the confessional. So I couldn’t."

"Ah, you heard the rumors?"

"I saw it myself, to be exact. Seeing that severed cock made my legs go weak."

"Hehe, I did well, right? Just like you told me, I punished the man who approached me."

"You did well, but is that really okay? Won’t the abbess say anything?"

"It’s fine. I handled it properly, so the abbess won’t say anything. She even praised me for doing well."

"I see... Isabelle?"

Isabelle had been listening closely to Reina and me talk.

She looked as though something had startled her.

"Is something wrong?"

"I-I think that’s the first time I’ve heard you speak casually, Ian."

"Ah..."

I tried to maintain polite speech whenever I spoke normally.

It was easier to earn people’s favor that way.

Still, when I was with someone I felt at ease around, like Reina, my usual manner of speaking slipped out. Apparently, Isabelle found that strange.

"Please don’t worry about it. It’s simply how I speak with people I’m comfortable around."

"Then... couldn’t you speak more casually with me too?"

"I’m sorry. I think that would be difficult."

Perhaps because of Ian’s pure devotion to Isabelle, the words did not come easily in front of her.

Maybe this was Ian’s original way of speaking.

But Isabelle seemed to take it differently.

"Am I not someone you’re comfortable with, Ian?"

"That’s not what I mean..."

"Sister, how could that possibly be it?"

As I floundered at Isabelle’s reaction, Reina beside me offered a helping hand.

"Husband and wife spend so much time together that it can become easy to take one another for granted. That’s why you should always be courteous and respect each other."

"Is that so?"

"Yes. Even among nobles, it’s basic etiquette to maintain polite speech when speaking to one’s wife."

"Were you a nobleman, Ian?"

"Who knows? I don’t remember that, so I’m not sure either."

I took Isabelle’s hand as I answered her question.

"But as Reina said, that is why I am courteous in front of you, Isabelle. You could call it treating one another with the respect due an honored guest. Since we are so close, I believe we should be all the more careful with each other. It is absolutely not because I feel uncomfortable around you."

"Wow, those difficult words just roll right off your tongue. Were you really a noble?"

Reina’s needless jab from the side annoyed me greatly, but fortunately, Isabelle was focused on what I had said.

"I’ll be careful around you too, Ian."

"There’s no need for that. You are already doing more than well, Isabelle."

Isabelle and I looked at each other, then kissed.

As newlyweds, we were still in the height of our passion.

"Ahem! Ian! Don’t forget I’m here too."

"I know."

Reina complained, wriggling her fingers at the sight.

She seemed to want to throw herself into my arms too, but she was holding herself back because we were inside the church.

"Oh, right. I had something to show you, Sister."

"Something for me?"

We had come to the church today to introduce Reina to Isabelle.

I had not told Reina anything separately, yet she had prepared a gift for Isabelle.

"Ta-da!"

What Reina pulled out was a pure white wedding dress that the church rented to brides for their wedding ceremonies.

"Let’s have your wedding again!"

. . .

A wedding was the most important event in a woman’s life.

It was the moment she shone brightest, and the happiest memory she could have.

But Isabelle had been forced to hold such an important wedding in a simple, abbreviated manner.

Because of Rose’s Punishment, a proper wedding had been impossible at the time.

But now that she had recovered her health, things were different.

She could have the wedding she had dreamed of.

Yet Isabelle had deliberately avoided bringing up the subject of a wedding.

She had already made an unreasonable request of him. She could not burden him any further.

Hehe, no, Sister. It’s the most important event in a woman’s life.

Reina had noticed Isabelle’s feelings and been the first to bring up the wedding.

She had her perverted side, but Reina was a woman too.

As a woman who had once dreamed of a beautiful wedding, and as a nun who built bridges of love, Reina wanted to see Isabelle have a beautiful wedding.

"What do you think, Sister? You’d like to have the wedding again, wouldn’t you?"

"I-I..."

At Reina’s words, urging them to have another wedding while showing her the dress, Isabelle’s heart wavered for a moment.

To wear an outfit one only wore once in a lifetime, share a kiss of vows with the man she loved before everyone, and marry amid everyone’s blessings.

It would surely be wonderful.

It would surely become a memory she cherished for the rest of her life.

"It’s all right. We’re already married, so I don’t think we need to do it again."

But Isabelle ultimately voiced her refusal.

She had vowed not to become a burden to Ian anymore, and she did not want to trouble him again.

But unlike her feelings, Ian had already accepted Reina’s proposal.

"Sounds good. Let’s have the wedding again."

"I knew you’d say that, Ian!"

"Ah..."

Isabelle despaired at the thought that she had troubled Ian once again.

She regretted hesitating instead of refusing outright.

"Isabelle."

To Isabelle, who was thinking that way, Ian corrected her misunderstanding.

"I want to see the woman I love at her happiest. So please don’t feel burdened. This is merely my own selfish desire."

"Darling..."

Ian’s consideration made Isabelle feel as though she might cry.

She was so happy to be the wife of a man like him.

"I’ll speak to the abbess, so Reina, find a wedding dress that suits Isabelle."

"Yes!"

Reina answered with a cheerful smile at Ian’s words.

Ian frowned at the sight.

"Don’t do anything strange to Isabelle while I’m gone."

"Of course not!"

Reina’s answer was not remotely reassuring, but Ian headed toward where Vanessa, the abbess, was for now.

. . .

I accepted Reina’s suggestion that we have another wedding without a moment’s hesitation.

It’s not a bad idea.

It had been bothering me that Isabelle’s wedding had ended as a simple affair, and every man wanted to see the woman he loved happy.

If I could see her happy smile as she wore a pure white wedding dress, I was willing to make any sacrifice.

"Good morning, Ian."

Vanessa was watering flowers in the church courtyard.

Perhaps because I volunteered at the church so often, Vanessa and I had become close enough to exchange greetings.

"I came because there is something I would like to discuss."

I got straight to the point with Vanessa.

"Yes, I would like to have another wedding ceremony with Isabelle. Would that be possible?"

"Another wedding ceremony?"

"Yes. It bothers me that our wedding was held in such a simple manner. If possible, I would like to receive everyone’s blessings during the Ceremony of Light."

Vanessa answered my words with a smile.

"Understood. Our church will make the arrangements for you."

"Thank you. I will pay the wedding expenses separately later."

"There is no need to worry about the cost. Ordinarily, we would charge a certain fee, but there is something we would like to ask of you."

"Of me?"

"Yes. An Inquisitor will be coming for the regular report during the Ceremony of Light. If you attend that day as an honorary believer, we will waive the entire cost of the wedding."

I flinched at her words.

I knew they were coming, but it still makes me nervous for no reason.

The Inquisitors.

They were the Church of the Sun’s most powerful armed force, and at the same time, the most insane group—mad enough to purge the corrupted Holy See in its entirety.

"Should I explain what happened at the lake to the Inquisitors?"

"That is correct. You only need to tell the Inquisitor the lake’s exact location and everything that happened that day, without leaving anything out."

"Understood."

Compared to the original story, the church probably would not withdraw from Entiel Village.

Not only had they found Angel’s Rest, which they had been searching for, but Reina’s issue with her virginity had also been settled completely.

But if the regular report proceeded like this, they could simply receive the report and leave quietly.

Kate. I’ll have to use that woman.

The nun who had reported Reina’s virginity.

I planned to use her to sway the Inquisitor.
