Chapter 90: Round 87 - The Queen of the Mountains

Sylvia El Ru.

In practice, she was the true ruler of the Sorcerous Dynasty [Sarion], wielding even more authority than Ermesia, the [Heavenly Emperor].

Like my friend Luminous, she was the real power behind an entire nation, yet had handed off its administration to someone else. Despite being a [High Elf], a race famed for its dignity, she was an elf with a wandering streak.

There was a theory that it came from the influence of her late husband, the [Hero] Salion Grimwald...

...But that was not what mattered right now.

What really mattered was why she was here in [Ruberios].

"Hehehe, every single one of you looks interesting~"

While Chronoa and I stared at Sylvia in surprise, she licked her lips as she looked us over, and her eyes flashed blue.

It seemed she was using some kind of detection-type [skill] to read information about us.

Of course, with [Odin], it was never going to work.

[Report. Interference through the [skill] of the individual Sylvia El Ru has been blocked.]

Chronoa was a [Half-God], and Ria was one of the [Primordial Demons], so it probably would not have worked on them either.

But rather than being flustered, Sylvia only seemed even more intrigued by us.

"......Guests? Don’t tell me Chronoa has come—?"

Just as I was wondering how to deal with that troublesome elf, the owner of that prickly voice approached. Luminous.

As usual, she was dressed in her eccentric black gothic outfit. The moment she saw Chronoa, her face seemed to brighten, but...

"Forgive me, Chronoa. I have another visitor at the moment, so wait just a mome—"

...then she noticed Ria and me standing right beside her, and her eyes flew wide open in shock.

"...[Devil Lord] and... [Blanc]?! Why is one of the [Primordial Demons] with you?!"

"......"

Looks like it was time to explain everything again.

**

"......That infamous [Blanc] joined Guy’s side...?"

By now, I had gotten so used to explaining things that I gave Luminous and Sylvia only the key points in a quick summary.

Naturally, a few lies were mixed in there, but the two heroines seemed too distracted by Ria to notice.

"Oh my? It’s true that I joined Guy’s faction, but don’t misunderstand—I have not become his subordinate."

Hummm...!

Apparently displeased by Luminous’s muttering, a faint [Demon Lord's Haki] rose from Ria’s body.

"And my name isn’t [Blanc]. It’s [Ria]."

The aura, formed from white magic power, was beautiful enough at a glance to resemble a pure white aurora. But to Luminous, who was taking it head-on, it must have felt nothing but threatening.

"......I’ll be more careful next time."

Even she, who had not tensed up in front of Dagruel, could not help herself when faced with an angry [Primordial Demons].

"Hmm...... Still, I have to say, it’s a surprise. Two members of the Ten Great Demon Lords, both secretly enjoying meetings with that famous ‘strongest [Hero]’~?"

I do not know whether she was trying to help Luminous, but Sylvia suddenly cut into the conversation and changed the subject.

Since she did not know Chronoa’s secret as a [Regressor], she seemed puzzled about how Luminous and I, a servant of Guy, could both be acquainted with a [Hero].

"I’m sorry, but I can’t tell you the details of that. I’d appreciate it if you would simply accept that ‘we cooperated to calm the [Storm Dragon], and that was how the connection was formed.’"

"Oh? So you were the ones who sealed the [Storm Dragon] in that great forest? I did think it was sealed far too easily... Though if it was the [Devil Lord] and the strongest [Hero], I suppose there’s nothing impossible about that."

"...That is enough, Sylvia. From here on, I will do the asking."

Luminous, having used Sylvia’s questions to regain her composure, spoke again.

Her gaze turned toward me, so it seemed she intended to question me directly.

"Demon named Adelio. You said Guy ordered you to ‘confirm’ something. What exactly is this confirmation? What is it that Guy wants?"

Her voice was prickly, sharp, and arrogant.

A moment ago she had been cowed by Ria, but now Luminous Valentine had once again become every inch the queen of the [Vampires], asking her question with lofty pride.

And to her, I gave the answer I had prepared in advance—

"The order Lord Guy gave me was simple. ‘I will overlook your friendship with the [Hero]. In return, you will swear an even firmer bond and alliance than before, and enter into a [Contract].’ That is all."

—in other words, I planted the seed for an alliance.
