'...This is the worst.'
Heat rushed to her head, and it felt like her insides were twisting.
Her anger had already been building because of [Rouge], and now these troublesome visitors had appeared on top of that. There was no need to explain just how much greater that fury had become.
Yet [Blanc] did not let a trace of that rage show on the outside.
"I will return. No matter what."
Those words, the vow he had made before leaving, had sustained her all this time.
She had heard his promise that he would return without fail, and so until he came back, she had to remain a calm and unshakable queen.
'...At least the [Divine Demon] himself didn't come charging in personally. That's something. Even so, this is still irritating.'
[Blanc] calmly reviewed the situation in her head and faintly knit her elegant brows.
Just as Obera had expected, she knew very well how unfavorable her position was.
For now, an even balance still remained, but that balance was only a temporary restraint.
'I need to create an opening somehow and take one of them out quickly.'
In the end, the biggest obstacle in this situation was the fact that there were two members of the [Seven Angels of Origin].
But looked at another way, if she could just reduce their numbers, she still had a chance.
If it were Feldway, the leader of the [Seven Angels of Origin], that would be another matter. But Obera and Corne, who were using split bodies, were opponents she could defeat well enough in a one-on-one fight.
Whoosh!!
Once more, [Blanc]'s whip lashed out, steeped in [Curse].
Faster than before, it shot toward Obera's wings.
"So you really are going for me first."
But Obera had already guessed which of the two [Blanc] would target.
Between herself and Corne, anyone could see that she was the more troublesome opponent.
"Sorry for barging in as we pleased, but we have our circumstances too. We can't afford to lose."
As she said that, Obera poured magic power into her beloved sword, the God-grade weapon [Beast Slayer], and moved to knock the whip aside.
Unlike Corne, she had let down her guard not even a little. It was a defense cast with full caution.
"...Heh heh heh."
But ironically, that very caution became her mistake.
Slash!!
The whip that had been aiming for Obera's wings suddenly bent at a right angle.
At the end of that curve was Corne's back.
"Ghk!!!"
"?!"
It was an attack from [Blanc] that made use of their assumptions against them.
Corne, still fuming from the earlier provocation, reacted too slowly, and Obera, focused on defense, had no time to respond. The attack landed cleanly.
"...You... bastard...!!"
Crack... craaack...
Corne's wings froze over under the curse, and though he released killing intent and magic power, [Blanc]'s curse did not come undone so easily. Before long, he fell straight to the ground.
Watching that sight with a smile, [Blanc] turned her head, her crimson eyes gleaming with chilling light.
As if to say...
"Heh. Now, for a little while, it's one against one. An even [games]."
As though the real beginning was only now.
"...It seems I underestimated you too much."
In contrast to [Blanc], Obera broke into a cold sweat and tightened her grip on [Beast Slayer].
Until her comrade returned, she would have to endure the empress's wrath alone.
Boom!!!
Meanwhile, Corne crashed to the ground like a bird with broken wings.
Even after slamming into the earth, he could barely move his body, like someone paralyzed.
"You damned... demon... bitch..."
He had always fought only the weak, opponents far beneath him. That was why he could not fully withstand the curse of [Blanc], an existence on his own level.
On top of that, it was not a curse strong enough to inflict a fatal wound, but because it had been focused on restraint to buy time, undoing it was especially troublesome.
"How dare you put... this kind of... irritating curse... on me..."
Still, he too was one of the [Seven Angels of Origin], and he possessed a certain resistance to curses. Little by little, his body began to break the curse on its own.
As he spat out an impossible declaration, something close to a scream of hatred.
"...Once I get back up there... I'll tear you apart, [Blanc]...!!!"
...
But that declaration of Corne's never reached [Blanc].
Tap...
Instead, it reached a demon standing in her place.
"Who exactly did you say you'd kill?"
Clear blue eyes like the open sky, and glossy ash-gray hair.
Magic power the same color as that hair, and a pitch-black longsword wrapped in that power.
And then...
"Say that again."
It reached a demon who possessed the [Hero's Egg].
