Demon.
In every fairy tale, demons are the monsters of hell—always evil, always standing against God and the angels.
These days, plenty of stories portray demons as kinder than you'd expect, even capable of building proper societies of their own. Even so, if you asked ten people what came to mind when they heard the word "demon," eight or nine of them would still picture something wicked first.
Red skin. Bat wings flapping behind them. A face twisted into a permanent scowl beneath a pair of horns. Or a creature luring innocent people in with sweet words, then grinning in the shadows.
"...Why am I suddenly talking about this?"
Because I became one of those demons.
Thankfully, not a horned, bright-red demon, but a demon from a novel.
...That didn't mean it was all good news, either.
When I first realized I'd been reincarnated, all I could think was, just how badly twisted was my life? And what was this absurdly unreal scene in front of me? And after dying, why had I fallen into the world of a novel instead of going to some actual afterlife?
............
No, from another point of view, maybe I should have been happy.
After all, I had spent my life trapped in a hospital after an accident in high school left me completely paralyzed. Now I had a body that could run.
And not just any body, either, but the body of an [Arch Demon], one of the higher races in the story.
Well, to be precise, it wasn't really a body, but a spiritual life-form given shape.
Anyway.
I hadn't been thrown into some novel I'd never heard of, but into [Tensura], a famous one I'd read quite a lot. And on top of that, I'd ended up as a race that could keep growing stronger if things went well. Didn't that mean all I had to do was enjoy a quiet, peaceful life from here on out?
......At least, that's what I used to think.
"Hehe~ This is fun. Want to be my servant, by any chance?"
"You. Join my ranks. I'll make an exception and teach you my Nuclear Magic."
"Fufufu, now, that won't do. This child swore to serve only me. Isn't that right?"
That was before the Primordial Demons got their hands on me.
