All of the Heroes connected to the Hosu City incident were gathered in the police conference room.
The people in the room wore grave expressions, and the entire room felt dark and heavy.
Gran Torino was the first to speak.
"How long are you planning to keep your mouths shut?"
"We should get on with the meeting."
Tsukauchi said as he brought up a screen.
"This is the list of the missing and murdered from this incident."
On the screen was a list of missing persons and the dead.
Among the dead was the name Iida Tenya.
"This is only the confirmed count. If we include the unconfirmed cases..."
There were already more than 300 names on the list shown on the screen.
But if the unconfirmed cases were included, the number exceeded 400.
"And the incident involving the people who suddenly started acting strangely on the train appears to involve the same culprit."
As he said that, Mahito’s face appeared on the screen.
"Name, age, identity, and everything else are unknown. He’s a Villain who suddenly appeared and began operating recently. He also seems to have ties to the League of Villains."
Then Tsukauchi explained Mahito’s Quirk.
"His Quirk appears to allow him to freely reshape living beings with a touch. And the people transformed by his Quirk... cannot die, and instead fall into a state of mental collapse and attack others."
The Heroes retched when they realized the monsters they had fought were people.
"For now, the government has authorized lethal force, considering how dangerous this man is."
The meeting did not proceed properly after that.
"Let’s end the meeting here for now."
The Heroes dispersed.
Gran Torino went to Midoriya.
Midoriya and Todoroki were sleeping in hospital rooms.
Gran Torino walked through the hospital.
Then he saw a family hurrying down the hall.
It was Iida’s family.
The family saw Iida’s body.
His mother collapsed at the sight of his corpse, and his older brother, overcome with rage, ran outside.

Midoriya was asleep in his hospital room.

Then someone grabbed Midoriya’s leg.

It was Iida, turned into a modified human.

From the other side, another hand grabbed his leg.
It was the modified human whose head he had blown apart.
"Why... did you... kill... me...?"
Midoriya backed away and said, "N-no...!"
He looked down at his own hands.
They were drenched in blood.
"N-no... My power isn’t... like this..."
Then Mahito’s voice came from behind him.

"You killed people while calling yourself a Hero. That makes you a failure as a Hero, doesn’t it~"

Midoriya lunged at Mahito, but passed straight through him like a phantom.

"No!!!"
Midoriya screamed as he jolted awake.
"Haa... haa..."
He looked around.
It was his hospital room.
All Might opened the door and came in.
"Young man!?"
All Might hurried over to Midoriya.
"Are you all right!? Young man!?"
"Y-yes... I’m fine, All Might."
"I was worried, young man. You didn’t wake up for three days."
"What?!"
Midoriya had been asleep for three days.
"Young man, can you move?"
"Yes, I’m fine."
"Then let’s go, young man."
"What? Where to?"
"...The funeral home."
"Ah..."
Midoriya dressed quickly and went to the funeral home.
Reporters had surrounded the place.
Midoriya and All Might pushed through them and went inside.
There was a framed photo of Iida Tenya.
In front of it was Iida’s mother, crying.
And in the corner, their classmates stood together.
"Ah... Deku-kun..."
Uraraka spotted Midoriya.
Looking at the scene before him, Midoriya felt like he might retch.
Guilt crawled up his spine.
Midoriya left the funeral home.
"Ugh! Bwaaaagh!!"
He vomited.
I’ll never forgive you, you ragged bastard!! Never!!!
Midoriya swore revenge.

Mahito was in the hideout, watching TV.
The news was currently reporting Iida’s death.
Hm... so it ended up being the Hero Killer’s doing, not mine...
On TV, Iida was being described as a brave student who died while fighting the Hero Killer.
Still, I’m looking forward to what comes next~
