Chapter 199: Miyuki

The next place we headed to was a nearby park.

Since the wish Itsuka-kun had made was to introduce Len to the others, this time we directly called the others over instead.

After the call was made, a few minutes later, three people could be seen walking in from the park entrance.

It was the Yamai sisters, along with Miku, with their pale purple and orange hair.

"Kya-kya! Hey, is that the new spirit? Yamai has to check whether she suits our fellow spirits or not!"

"Explanation. Kaguya says she’s so excited about a new companion that she can’t calm down. She talks like this, but she means to welcome you, so please don’t misunderstand."

Since Kaguya was using her chuunibyou-style speech, Yuzuru translated her words with a helpless look on her face.

Honestly, it was the kind of thing only Yuzuru and I could understand, so Len only nodded after hearing the translation.

"Wait, stop that!? First impressions matter!"

Well, Kaguya didn’t seem to like it much either.

"N-now, now, isn’t this fine? Cute girls are always welcome! Darling, really, when did you all get so close?"

"We only met not long ago too. Right, Itsuka-kun?"

"Yeah. Len, would you introduce yourself?"

"Ah, pleased to meet you. I’m Len. You’re the Yamai sisters, and Miku, right? I’ve heard a lot about you from Shido and Hieta."

"Oh? And what exactly did you hear? Keke, it must have been some grand heroic tale."

When Kaguya reacted with obvious anticipation, Len gave a sly smile and filled both me and Itsuka-kun with a sense of unease.

I had no idea what she was planning to say.

Neither I nor Itsuka-kun had really told Len anything.

We’d only said trivial things like, some people were coming, they were all spirits, so we hoped she’d get along with them, and the like. But even so, seeing Len act like that made me uneasy.

"No... no matter how you look at it, I can’t exactly tell you that kind of story. Forget I said anything."

Why did unease never betray me?

"What on earth did you two talk about!?"

"We didn’t say anything!"

"Len, please stop saying things in such a meaningful way..."

"Fufu, my apologies. That was our agreement, wasn’t it?"

After Len said that, Yuzuru stepped in front of Kaguya and glared at us.

"Suspicion. Hey, Shido?"

"What did you say to Len, the two of you?"

"We seriously didn’t say anything!"

"We’re innocent, I tell you!"

To clear up the misunderstanding caused by Len’s joke, we shouted as innocently as we could, but the suspicion in the three of them’s eyes didn’t go away.

From our point of view, this was just unfair.

"Introduction. Well, I’ll question you about that later. I’m Yamai Yuzuru. Nice to meet you. And this one is the one who is not Yamai Yuzuru, Kaguya."

So they were letting it slide for now, but they still planned to ask later.

"Who are you calling the "not" one!? I’m the main one here, okay!?"

Protesting Yuzuru’s introduction, Kaguya crossed her arms and introduced herself.

"...Ugh, fine. I’m Yamai Kaguya! Burn my noble name into your heart!"

"Kaguya and Yuzuru, huh. I see, you really are identical. How should I tell you apart?"

Her eyes should have been covered by the bandages, but just like when she first met me and Itsuka-kun, she seemed to extend her other senses to confirm what the two of them looked like.

"Explanation. The one with the light of intelligence in her eyes is Yuzuru."

"Hey, who gave you permission to say that, you jerk!!"

"I see, then the noisy one is Kaguya."

"What are you using to tell us apart!?"

There were plenty of easy ways to tell Kaguya and Yuzuru apart.

Like Len, you could tell by how noisy they were, or you could tell by their appearance.

Yuzuru always had half-lidded eyes, while Kaguya kept hers fully open.

There were other ways too, like their eye shape and a few other details.

"Then I’m last. I’m Izayoi Miku. Please, let’s definitely get along!"

When it was her turn, Miku’s eyes practically sparkled as she fired off question after question at Len.

"First, I want to know all about Len! What are your hobbies? Favorite food? What do you do on your days off? What kind of girls do you like?"

Maybe it was the madness radiating from Miku, but Len looked flustered and took a step back.

I’d seen her flustered before, but this was the first time I’d seen her actually retreat, and it really did feel like Miku.

She was definitely not a spirit who sang songs. She was a spirit obsessed with women.

"Ah... no, that’s difficult. I don’t really have a favorite thing or a hobby. I’m not sure what I’m supposed to say to questions like these."

"There’s no need to worry about what to say! When you’re troubled about what to say, you just make contact! It’s body language!"

Saying that, Miku moved even closer to Len and drew the line.

If you ask what line that was...

"By the way, Len, how far do you think is acceptable when it comes to physical contact between friends? Is a hug okay? Is a kiss on the cheek safe?"

"Thrill. Miku still has a very bold way of stepping on the gas."

"How far are you going, Miku...?"

I slapped a hand to my forehead and sighed at Miku’s outrageous perversion.

I hadn’t exactly expected anything less, but still, they’d only just met. Shouldn’t she know the meaning of restraint?

Of course, maybe this was Miku’s version of restraint, but that was a problem in itself.

I started worrying whether Len could handle that level of perversion.

"Ah... but I’m curious about something too. Could I touch you just a little?"

That wasn’t Miku. That was Kaguya speaking.

Unlike Miku, who had already shown she was a pervert, hearing Kaguya say that made Yuzuru look shocked as she stepped away from her.

"Fear. When did Kaguya get infected by Miku’s preferences too?"

"Kaguya... I knew Miku was like that, but I didn’t expect you to have that kind of taste too."

"That’s not it! It’s just, this is a little..."

Ignoring our protests, Kaguya slowly edged closer to Len.

Beside her, Miku also started inching toward Len.

"W-what is it...?"

For a moment, Len looked flustered by the two of them’s behavior, and then they each stood on her right and left and grabbed her shoulders.

Then they began closely inspecting Len’s appearance.

"...Ohhh, it looks like it’s made entirely of bandages, but then there’s the boldness of wrapping chains around it and exposing the skin. I see, not bad..."

"Hieta, isn’t that basically what this is?"

Itsuka-kun asked me that while watching Kaguya’s behavior.

I nodded and answered.

"Yeah. Looks like Len’s outfit was right up her alley."

Since Kaguya had a chuunibyou streak, she liked that kind of outfit.

Right now, the spirit outfit itself was already pretty close to a straitjacket, and Len was practically wearing restraints, so of course it would hit Kaguya’s tastes dead on.

And with the bandages over her eyes like an eyepatch, one of the classic symbols of chuunibyou, Kaguya had no choice but to love it.

"Hmm, bandages... bandages, huh. Yeah, they’re cool."

As Kaguya kept admiring Len’s bandages, she soon fixed her gaze on them and spoke to Yuzuru.

"...Hey, Yuzuru. I need to talk to you about our spirit outfit for a second. Since we’ve got a rare chance to be here together, maybe we should each cover one eye, right and left..."

I thought she was asking for some kind of favor, but she was actually talking about adding bandages to their own spirit outfits.

Yuzuru shook her head at the request, which was clearly just her own personal taste being projected outward.

"Advice. Please don’t drag Yuzuru into this. If you want something like that, ask for it in casual clothes."

"Eeeh, it’s better when it’s symmetrical left and right!"

Kaguya kept trying to push the bandage idea, but Yuzuru firmly refused and held the line.

Honestly, if someone asked me to add bandages to my outfit, I’d probably refuse too.

Kaguya’s taste was unusual, but Yuzuru’s was normal.

I decided to let that go and looked over at Miku, only to find that she was already clinging to Len like a leech.

And groping her body like crazy, too.

"Anything’s fine, but could you stop touching me so much?"

"Could it be that you’re hurt, Len? Eek, that’s terrible! I’ll give you a proper, loving massage!"

Using massage as an excuse, Miku kept touching all over Len’s body as she spoke.

"Pain, pain, go away~!"

It was only natural to wonder who exactly was causing the pain.

"...I’m not hurt. There’s no need to worry."

"Phew, that’s a relief. So you’re not hurt! Well, that aside, I can touch your upper arms and thighs, right?"

"Miku-Miku..."

Watching Miku get completely carried away and try to touch Len even more aggressively, I could only let out a long sigh.

Len looked a little uncomfortable, so I thought about how to peel Miku off her, but the only method I could think of was the one I really didn’t want to use.

So I figured I might as well try talking first, and said to Miku,

"Miku. Len’s uncomfortable. Stop touching her already."

"Eeeh~ But she’s a new spirit! If I don’t touch her, that’s a loss!"

"How is that a loss...?"

At Miku’s dizzying answer, I pressed my temples, and then she made me an offer.

"Then, if we call Miyuki over here, I’ll stop touching her!"

"......"

The choice was between forcing discomfort on a stranger, or enduring discomfort and embarrassment myself to make Len comfortable.

And the choice I made in that situation was, obviously...

"...Do your best, Hieta."

"Shit...!"

I equipped the Ring of Favor and Protection and the Dark Clutch Ring.
