Chapter 16: A Day in the Fleet

It all began with Monarch’s bombardment.

KRAAANG! Swoooosh!

From Monarch’s main batteries came armor-piercing shells capable of shattering Sakura Empire warships, accompanied by her own specialized barrage. Layer upon layer of fire rained down, leaving no room for escape. By all accounts, those shells should have blown them to pieces, but they were shipgirls too. Which meant they could fight back.

Just in a rather peculiar fashion.

Swish! Swish! Swish!

Takao and Atago drew their katanas and swung them with impossible speed, slicing through the barrage. They struck so fast that even Monarch’s shells were shattered mid-air. But Monarch remained unfazed; she had expected them to block. As she prepared the next salvo, the Sakura Empire shipgirls refused to simply stand and watch.

“Launch all carrier squadrons!”

“Launch!”

Akagi and Kaga hurled their paper talismans toward Monarch. The talismans transformed into carrier aircraft, which dove in with machine guns and bombs, intent on sinking that detestable Royal Navy battleship.

But the Royal Navy was not about to be outdone. Led by Belfast, the Royal Navy maid corps unleashed their anti-air guns, forming a wall of flak. One by one, the aircraft fell, but the Sakura Empire didn't care. For every plane lost, they could send out more. They intended to wear the maids down.

“For this victory, and for our honorable Commander!”

At Belfast’s cry, the maids unleashed their own main guns. What did it matter if the garden was wrecked? To them, it was an unbearable humiliation that the one who should have become the Royal Navy’s anti-air ace had been stolen away—and by these traitors, no less. Belfast, among them, gripped a torpedo in each hand and sprinted straight toward Akagi at high speed. She intended to ram those torpedoes right down that woman’s throat. How dare she kidnap her master? Unforgivable.

The instant Belfast reached Akagi and tried to shove the torpedoes into her mouth, Akagi smiled with a chilling expression. Belfast felt a sudden surge of dread and glanced to the side, only to be struck by a massive blade and sent flying. The shipgirl who had leaped into the fray was none other than...

“You shall not pass...”

With metallic ear ornaments, a small and delicate frame, clothes resembling a modified sailor uniform, and crimson eyes paired with an introverted demeanor, Ayanami was the one serving as the torpedo-heavy damage dealer on the battlefield. She had just sent Belfast flying with a single strike.

“Tch! I disliked you from the moment I saw you, Ayanami. I cannot accept the fact that you are the Commander’s secretary ship!”

Belfast spat blood onto the ground without hesitation and glared at Ayanami as if she could chew her up and swallow her whole. From Belfast’s perspective, this was infuriating. If that girl didn't exist, she could have been the master’s secretary ship. It was because of her that she was denied the position.

“Are you jealous...? If you are, then you should try harder...”

Seeing Ayanami sneer only fueled Belfast's rage. She rushed forward again and tried to bring her sword down, only for the strike to be knocked aside. As Ayanami looked at Belfast, she saw a barrier had been erected around her, and Belfast’s wounds were rapidly healing. Looking into the distance, Ayanami spotted the shipgirls supporting her: Illustrious and Unicorn. They had activated their skills to grant Belfast invincible protection and healing.

“A surprise attack, huh? Sakura Empire girls really are barbaric, aren’t they?”

“You won’t be able to hurt Belfast!”

The Sakura Empire battleships weren’t about to let that stand, so they unleashed their own shells and special barrages. In response, the Royal battleships did the same. Shells collided with shells. A rain of artillery descended from the sky, machine-gun fire sprayed from aircraft, and bombs dropped from bombers, all converging in a three-pronged assault.

No one cared about collateral damage. It was nothing more than a catfight for the Commander. Calling it a catfight was putting it mildly, but that didn’t matter. For shipgirls who lived and died by the Commander’s love, nothing was more important than this.

“Get lost already! Die! Just disappear!”

“You’re the ones who are going to sink, you beastly bitches!”

While they were fighting like this, what was the Commander doing? Was he asleep?

“Ufufufufufu, ahahahahahahaha!”

He was being kidnapped.

===========

“Haaah... where did the Commander go...”

Prinz Eugen was walking through the academy park, her mood gloomy because the Commander still hadn’t come looking for her. She was merely out for a stroll to shake off the feeling. She had started resenting her own luck. What was the point of being lucky if she didn’t have the luck to meet the Commander?

She sighed as she walked. Just as she was thinking she should return to the dorms and try to find him again later, the sound of bombardment stopped her in her tracks.

“What? A Siren attack?”

Hoping to blow away her gloom, she ran toward the source of the noise. What she found there was absolute chaos. The Royal Navy and the Sakura Empire were beating the hell out of each other.

“You lot of trash aren’t getting my master!”

“Give us the Commander alreadyyyyy!”

Belfast and Akagi had apparently run out of aircraft and shells, as the fight had shifted into close-quarters combat. Their clothes had been torn by the bombardment, revealing pale skin smeared with dust; the more heavily damaged shipgirls were even starting to show their underclothes.

The others were no different. With their ammunition and aircraft exhausted, they were grappling, yanking hair, biting, kicking, and punching in a full-blown brawl.

Monarch had grabbed Nagato by the collar and hurled her away. Amagi had approached Queen Elizabeth and made her spit blood. Sirius and Ayanami were engaged in a martial-arts-style duel with their blades. There was even friendly fire—Yuudachi had bitten Yukikaze’s leg without distinguishing friend from foe.

“Woof! Grrr!”

Crunch crunch!

“Aah! That hurts! Yuudachi, stop biting!”

Atago and Takao were locked in a true sword duel against Warspite and King George V. Seriously—were they really matching those massive swords with katanas? Even Prinz Eugen stared in amazement.

“I shall not hold back! We shall take the Commander with us!”

“My, my, why don’t the old ladies and the glutton step aside? This big sister will take good care of the Commander, so why don’t you two go get treated for dementia over there?”

“Ha! A lewd tramp who gets aroused every time she sees the Commander and soaks her panties! How dare you spout such nonsense!”

“Fufufu, ahahahaha! So the Sakura Empire girls really have no manners, do they? Then I, King George V, shall teach you proper etiquette. The etiquette of admitting defeat!”

Thud! Crash! Screech!

It was, in the truest sense, a complete disaster.

“Wow, this is a total mess.”

She wanted to keep watching the fight, but as she moved to find the Commander, she stopped. Right there in the bushes lay the Valhalla she had longed for. The Commander was there. Unconscious.

“Haaah?”

The moment she saw him, her brain started working at full speed. The reason the Sakura Empire and the Royal Navy were having a brawl must be related to the Commander. They were so busy fighting each other that they weren't paying any attention to him.

So, what should she do now?

“I guess I should be grateful for this luck~♪”

She should run off with him.

Having made up her mind, she had to move fast. They were fighting now, but who knew when they’d stop? She had to snatch him and run. The most important moment of Prinz Eugen’s life had arrived.

“Heave-ho!”

She lifted the Commander in a princess carry and looked down at his unconscious face. His peacefully sleeping expression, that straight nose, those beautiful eyes, that cute little mouth moving softly... everything about the Commander was adorable. If those women hadn’t been fighting here, she might have pounced on him right then and there.

“Ahh! Hoo-hoo... not here... later... later...!”

Eugen was already imagining herself bearing the Commander’s child and getting married. She couldn’t do it here. While outdoor play was incredibly exciting, the timing was terrible. Wiping the drool from the corner of her mouth, she shot a mocking glance at the women still fighting behind her and then sprinted full speed back to the dorms.

Tutatatatatatatatatata

She was no longer the slow heavy cruiser anyone knew. Breaking past the limits of her class, she ran like a finely tuned sports car. She dashed into the dormitory and burst into her room. Inside was her older sister, Admiral Hipper. Hipper, who had been happily lost in a book about an imaginary romance with the Commander, jumped in shock.

“Gah! Hey, Eugen! Even if we share a room, you should at least knock before coming in!”

“Move, sis. I’ve got something I need to do right now!”

“W-what... what... wha... the Commander...?! Why is the Commander here!”

Hipper was startled by Eugen's sudden arrival with the Commander, but Eugen didn’t care. She wanted to make love to him as quickly as possible, lay him on the bed, and pounce. So, she decided to rope in her older sister.

“What is it, sis? Want to join in too?”

“Wha.... wha..... what!”

Hipper’s face turned red with embarrassment, but she was also just an ordinary shipgirl who craved the Commander’s love. When she nodded, Eugen locked the door and immediately dove onto the bed where the Commander was lying, hugging him tightly.

“Kyyaaah♥ Commander, I love you so much! I love you! I love you so, so much!”

Brrrrr

Prinz Eugen trembled as she inhaled the Commander’s scent, reaching a light climax. She felt an enormous sense of anticipation, wondering if the real thing would be so pleasurable she’d practically ascend to heaven. As she bit and kissed the Commander all over, his bright, soft lips came into view.

There, at last, was the entrance to the Valhalla Odin had promised her. She was finally going to Valhalla. Together with the Commander, where they would enjoy eternal pleasure side by side.

Gulp

Eugen swallowed hard. Then, as if she had finally regained her senses and was ready, she prepared to join her lips with the Commander’s and enter the gates of Valhalla.

“Then, thank you for the meal~♥”

Commander, I’m jealous. A sister sandwich, seriously?
