'At this rate, I might actually die.'
After getting all sticky with Yui in the storage room, I felt completely drained. Beside me, Yui looked radiant; now that her mind seemed calm again, she was smiling brightly. I had truly ended up with a beautiful wife, but I never expected her sex drive to be this insatiable.
At first, I thought I had the upper hand, but she took control in an instant. As expected of a terrifying yandere...!
I was a man, so of course I didn’t dislike it, but if this continued several times a day, I worried I’d be completely wrung out and actually die from overexertion. Doing it for days on end was something that only happened in doujinshi. I was a living human being; I had my limits.
Maybe that saying about "turning off the H" existed for a reason.
'Maybe I should ask Akashi to make me some kind of tonic later...'
With that thought, I got dressed, and Yui and I left the storage room. When I looked around, there wasn’t a soul in sight. Only silence remained. It had been so noisy just a little while ago, so where on earth had everyone gone? As Yui and I walked down the quiet hallway, I spotted a girl walking somewhere ahead.
She had white hair with a violet tint tied into twin tails, a rabbit headband, a tank top and skirt, and she was shuffling along while nodding off. She looked remarkably familiar.
'Laffey?'
Her name was Laffey, one of the four main heroines. The moment I called her name, she turned around. She raised a hand to rub the corner of her eye before staring at my face for a moment. Then, a long yawn escaped her tiny, pretty mouth.
"Huaaam... Commander... hi..."
She was dozing off again.
Ah, right. That was her. Her constitution really was something else.
When I first saw Laffey, my impression was that she suffered from narcolepsy. I truly thought it was incredible how she could just fall asleep so naturally. Of course, later on, while playing the game, I learned that wasn’t quite the case. Curious as to why Laffey was here, I stroked her soft hair and asked. Whoa, she really was soft.
"Why are you here, Laffey?"
Enjoying the sensation, she smiled as if she were having a pleasant dream and answered.
"Huaaam... came to look for Commander... ah... a little more there..."
Pat pat
"Hueee... Commander... feels good..."
Pat pat
"Aaaah... not there... Commandeeeer..."
Pat pat
"Haaah... haaah... Commander...! Keep petting me and I’ll go over the edgeee...!"
Hah!
She was so soft that I got completely absorbed in petting her, and Laffey ended up making a face that I absolutely could not describe here. She looked like she was about to drift away into bliss. My petting technique was apparently amazing!
"L... Laffey...?"
"Haaah... Commandeeer... just a little moreee..."
By now, she was drooling slightly at the corner of her mouth, her face flushed red, writhing under my hand so much that her pure white panties were starting to peek out. Beside her, Yui said nothing, only smiling with dark shadows cast over her eyes. What was I supposed to do with this feeling of heaven and hell colliding?
The answer was simple: grab Yui’s hand.
"Run for it!"
"Eh!?"
Yui hadn’t expected this and jumped in surprise, but she soon entrusted her hand to mine and started running with me. It’s not like I was scared of Yui’s dead eyes or anything! Sorry, Laffey! Please don’t sue me. I’ll pay the settlement later!
How far had we run? Up ahead, I spotted a room with the lights off. It was still broad daylight, so why would there be a dark room like that? What on earth were these girls thinking? Yui and I went inside. The curtains were drawn, leaving the place dim and gloomy.
"Welcome, Commander!"
Suddenly, the lights flashed on, and we were greeted by a burst of fanfare and loud voices from every direction. So that was why they’d been looking for me. Looking around, I saw the Union shipgirls I’d built, along with a massive whipped cream cake and various refreshments. It looked like they’d thrown a party to celebrate my return. A banner hung prominently: 'Celebrating the Commander’s Return.'
"Uh... uh...?"
Still dazed by the sudden noise, I stood there blankly. Yui stepped in front of me and spoke again, a radiant smile on her face.
"Welcome back, husband."
"Oh, then...?"
"That’s right, Commander! The Union shipgirls threw this party to celebrate your return!"
"Yes, that’s right, Commander. My sister Cleveland, I, and all our friends put this party together for you."
Cleveland and Montpelier stood beside Yui as they spoke, and then the Union shipgirls behind them each chimed in to congratulate me.
"Welcome back, Commander."
"Welcome back, Commander! Let’s play together!"
"Ara ara, Commander~? Helena and I were waiting for you all this time, you know?"
"C... Commander... welcome back...!"
"Commander, Essex has come here to celebrate your return!"
"My, Essex. Won’t that make the Commander feel pressured? Oh dear, Commander, welcome to Shangri-La~ Your Shangri-La is right here."
"Commander~! Congratulations on your return!"
Looking around, I saw they’d even put up banners. It was a truly beautiful sight. The reason they’d gone this far for me was so dazzling it almost hurt.
"When did you all manage to do all this...?"
"Well, Enterprise told us through her aircraft! She said she wanted to throw a party for the Commander’s return."
"Yes, everyone here helped organize this to celebrate the Commander’s return."
The silver-haired woman with long hair and a calm air that reminded me of a fashion magazine model, and the lively blonde woman with twin tails wearing a cowboy hat, were Yorktown and Hornet.
Hearing that, I couldn’t hold it in anymore. All I felt was guilt toward the girls. I had thought of this place as a game, but these girls had thought of it as their life. I never imagined they’d cherish their own Commander this much. It was on a completely different level, yet they had been thinking of me all this time.
"Thank you, everyone. I have something I want to say to you all, so... does anyone have a microphone?"
"Here you go, Commander!"
Taking the microphone Cleveland handed me, I spoke loudly enough for everyone to hear. My apology and gratitude were sincere.
"Thank you, everyone, and I’m truly sorry."
"I couldn’t avoid being away from you all because of the situation, but I’m still sorry."
"I ended up neglecting you all without meaning to. And yet, you waited for me until the very end."
"And somehow, I’ve finally made it back."
They listened to me in silence. They probably never expected to hear something like this. Some of the shipgirls began to cry. I was truly sorry to them, but what they felt was joy. It was as if this apology had finally repaid the time they had endured.
"While I’m here, I swear I’ll do my best for all of you."
"And I will never leave of my own will."
"Thank you so much for waiting for me."
Sniff, sniff
The sound of noses being blown and tears falling filled the room. Then someone started clapping, and the applause spread like a contagion.
Clap clap clap clap clap clap
As thunderous applause burst out around me, I felt as though they had forgiven me. Just as I was feeling relieved, Yui came up to me and hugged me with a smile full of maternal warmth. It was gentle and comforting, almost like being held by a mother. Then, her hand reached toward the corner of my eye.
"Don’t worry too much, husband. Your words alone have already repaid us, so don’t cry... if you cry, won’t I get sad too...?"
It seemed I’d gotten so emotional that tears had started falling without me noticing. That was why they had started crying too. It was silly, I knew that, but I couldn’t help it. Seeing me cry, the girls began to speak.
"Don’t cry, Commander! We’re just happy you came back to us!"
How could I not cry after hearing them say that? Once again, I was overwhelmed with gratitude. I really felt like the luckiest person alive.
I decided that from now on, I would treat them with the utmost care. Even if this was another world, wasn’t this the reality I was living in? Right here, I made a vow. I would make them happy.
"Thank you, everyone..."
Thank you, everyone.
