Chapter 35: Ch. 35 Sosuke Aizen!

Uploading today as well!

It’s been about five days since I began tinkering with the creation of modified Arrancars. Is it easier than I expected, or harder? Well, for starters, successfully granting them abilities was simple enough. However, the moment they gain a specialized ability, their ego vanishes. Conversely, if they retain their will, their abilities disappear. Simply put, they’re half-successes and half-failures.

“Does this make about 300 of them now?”

That’s the rough estimate of how many Hollows I’ve slaughtered for these experiments. I burned through batches of fifty-eight Hollows at a time, then moved on to testing with two Arrancars and more Hollows, consuming a total of sixty souls a day. But it’s finally time to wrap this up. I’m getting bored of the grind.

“Hmm. Only 100 survived the process. Half are mindless drones with powers; the other half are self-aware but useless.”

The hundred modified Arrancars I created stood gathered in one place. Setting aside the missing ego or lack of ability, the experiment succeeded in one vital aspect: they possess absolute loyalty. A single word from me, and they wouldn’t hesitate to commit suicide.

“Should I stop here?”

I started to weigh my options. I’d grown weary of the process, but should I see it through to the end? Or should I just give up and find a use for these defects? Initially, I considered making them all female, but most ended up male, which was another annoying point to ponder.

“Come to think of it... something interesting just crossed my mind.”

A smirk pulled at my mask.

Creak.

As I threw open the door, I was greeted by light for the first time in ages. I hadn’t stepped outside once during those five days of experimentation. As the light spilled into the room, it illuminated a truly nauseating scene.

“Did I overdo it a little?”

The laboratory was a charnel house, overflowing with the mangled corpses and spilled viscera of Hollows. Severed arms and legs—even masks and heads—were scattered across the floor, rolling in stagnant puddles of blood. Crimson spatters painted every wall, decorating the room in a grotesque mural of slaughter. Huddled in the corner of this gore-soaked room were the 100 modified Arrancars.

“Well, I’ll leave the cleanup to that guy. Follow me, you failures.”

“Uaaagggh...”

“Yes, Master.”

The mindless ones let out primal groans, while those with an ego gave a verbal response as they trailed behind me. The new plan forming in my mind was too delicious to pass up. Just thinking about it made me want to cackle.

“Kehehehe. This is going to be a very entertaining experiment.”

If this succeeds, I’ll gain the ultimate Fracción—beings with both will and power who follow me above all others. Their potential would likely rival that of the Espada themselves. The only question is, will the experiment actually work? Well, it doesn't really matter if it fails. After all, I’m experimenting with lives that were worthless to begin with.

Update! Update! Update!

Congrats! First off, we've surpassed 1,000 bookmarks, but I’m coolly skipping the mass-release for now. HOWEVER! If even one person correctly guesses what kind of experiment the protagonist is about to pull, I’ll drop a double—no, a triple update of 10kb each. Note: the answer must be in by 7:10 PM. Because that’s when I’m uploading the next chapter!
