Once the various misunderstandings were cleared up alongside our reunion, we stepped back into Tibel's home. Tibel and I took the center, while the other three Adjuchas stood a short distance away—no, quite a far distance away from us.
"What exactly do you think you're doing, Ruel?"
"Hmm? Oh, humans call this a 'lap pillow.'"
"Is that so?"
Tibel didn't ask anything further after that, remaining silent as usual. Having returned after a long time, I had lain down using the knees of the seated Tibel as my pillow. Aside from that short question, she didn't say a word about my behavior.
"Well, let me give you a brief introduction. My name is Lucifer La El. I'm Tibel's lover."
"Eeeeeeek?!"
"What's with that reaction? You want to die?"
They shook their heads vigorously—shake, shake!
When they reacted with such disbelief and shock at my words, I dropped my voice to a low, menacing tone. Having already experienced the visceral sensation of 'True Death' earlier, they shook their heads until it looked like they might snap off. Seeing that, I switched back to my usual casual tone.
Swish!
"Exactly. We look good together, don't we?"
Nod, nod, nod!
Satisfied with their response, I sat up and pulled Tibel into my arms as I spoke. This time, they nodded with infinite speed and frantic agreement. Of course, Tibel, the person actually involved, added a soft comment.
"Stop teasing the children, Ruel."
Despite her words, Tibel didn't push me away or try to escape my embrace. Her meaning was literally to stop messing with the kids; she wasn't saying she disliked the contact herself.
"Hmph, how disappointing."
"Hieee!"
Shiver.
Tremble, tremble.
I wanted to play with them a bit more, but since Tibel asked, I decided to let it go. Naturally, the fact that they were trembling in terror after seeing the look in my eyes when I said I was 'disappointed' was just a side story.
Not long after we shared the joy of our reunion, an Adjuchas who claimed to be a subordinate of Baraggan arrived. Of course, he didn't come for me; he came for Tibel.
"Halibel. Lord Baraggan has recognized your power and wishes to meet you. You are to come with me immediately."
"I have no intention of doing so."
Tibel had zero interest in such things, so she refused flatly. The Adjuchas’s reaction to her rejection was quite spectacular.
"Do you dare to defy the words of the King of Hueco Mundo and the Great Emperor, Lord Baraggan?!"
Seeing a mere Adjuchas acting so high and mighty, it was clear he was relying on Baraggan’s prestige. However, Baraggan wouldn't so much as blink if a few Adjuchas like this one were killed.
"A mere Adjuchas acting up in front of a Vasto Lorde... what a pathetic sight."
"Who are you?"
"You don't need to know. You're going to die anyway."
"What... ack!"
Before Baraggan’s messenger could finish his sentence, he let out a choked scream and vanished into dust. Since I had reached out and used Life Absorption at full power, the Adjuchas was stripped of all his spiritual power instantly and disintegrated into scattered Reishi.
"I suppose it's about time I became the King of this Hueco Mundo."
"Ruel."
Tibel looked at me. Her expression was as stoic as ever, but I could catch a glimpse of concern in her eyes. She knew that if I aimed for the throne, the enemy I'd have to face was Baraggan, the man who called himself the current King of Hueco Mundo.
"Don't worry, Tibel. His power won't work on me."
The death brought by Senescence has no effect on me. Because 'Death' is the very essence of my existence, mere 'Aging' cannot kill me. I was genuinely curious to see how Baraggan would deal with me when his Senescence proved useless.
