Chapter 28: Invasion of the USJ (1)

"Today’s Heroics Basic Training will be supervised by four people: myself, All Might, Mr. Tsugikuni, and one other faculty member."

At Aizawa’s announcement, the students of Class 1-A looked around in confusion, wondering what kind of lesson required four Pro Heroes. When Aizawa mentioned it was 'Rescue Training,' some students looked nervous while others were buzzing with excitement.

"Whether you wear your costumes or not is up to your own judgment. Some of your outfits may hinder your movement in a rescue environment. We will be taking a bus to the training ground, so move quickly. Be rational."

Once Aizawa finished, the students grabbed their gear and headed to the locker rooms. Under the leadership of Representative Himiko and Deputy Momo, they boarded a bus with inward-facing seats, much like a subway car.

As the bus moved autonomously toward the training site, the cabin was lively with chatter.

"I have a habit of saying whatever is on my mind, Momo-chan."

"Yes, Tsu-san? What is on your mind?"

"During PE, you and Himiko-chan were using a strange kind of breathing. What is that, ribbit?"

At Tsu’s question, Momo and Himiko glanced at Michikatsu. He offered a slight nod, giving them permission to share the information.

"What we use is a specialized technique called Total Concentration Breathing," Momo explained.

"""Total Concentration Breathing?"""

The class looked puzzled, with Bakugo listening intently in the back. Momo continued her explanation, and as she spoke, the students' expressions shifted to looks of disbelief. Even Aizawa, who had already heard the theory from Michikatsu, found the concept of such a "cheat-like" technique hard to swallow, though the evidence was sitting right in front of him.

"Himiko and I have been trained by Husba—ahem! By our Teacher, and we have reached the point of 'Constant,' meaning we maintain this breathing at all times."

"Hey... Six-eyes..."

Bakugo stared at Michikatsu with a rare, serious expression. "Can anyone learn that breathing if they have the talent?"

Michikatsu nodded. "As of now... you, Midoriya, Iida, Todoroki, and Kirishima have the latent talent for it."

"Then can we also be taught this technique?" Iida asked, raising his hand formally.

After a brief silence, Michikatsu answered, "I am arranging for a proper environment where those with talent may learn. You must wait."

Internally, Michikatsu was thinking of the partnership between Nezu and Kagaya. If they could successfully bridge UA with the training legacy of Kimetsu Village, it would provide an incredible opportunity for the next generation of Heroes.

"Once I learn it... I’m definitely going to crush you, Six-eyes. Just wait," Bakugo provoked.

"...Is that so? Then continue to strive," Michikatsu replied flatly.

Though Michikatsu meant it as genuine encouragement, Bakugo seemed to interpret it as a dismissive "try if you can," which only made him grind his teeth in frustration.

"Honestly, you are so twisted, Bakugo-san," Momo sighed.

"Ahaha... sorry, Yaoyorozu-san. Kacchan has always been a bit difficult..."

"HEY DEKU!! What did you just say?! Hah?! I’ll kill you, bastard!!"

Seeing Bakugo explode at Midoriya’s blunt assessment made the rest of 1-A sigh in unison. Kirishima decided to chime in.

"Being recognized as having a personality like 'sewage boiled in manure' already... that’s actually impressive!"

"What kind of vocabulary is that, Shitty-hair?! DIE!!"

".......So vulgar..." Shoko Todoroki muttered, looking at Bakugo with a look of pure disgust.

"Stop your quarreling! We are arriving!" Aizawa called out.

"""YES, SIR!!"""

"WHOA!! This is insane!! Is this USJ?!"

(Universal Studios Japan)

"Shipwrecks, landslides, fires—every type of disaster imaginable has been recreated here. This is the Unforeseen Simulation Joint! Or, for short, the USJ!!"

"It really is a USJ..." the students whispered in awe.

"Greetings, seedlings of Heroism! I am No. 13, the Space Hero and rescue specialist in charge of today’s training! It is a pleasure to meet you all!"

"Whoa, it’s No. 13! The search and rescue specialist!"

"A gentlemanly Hero who works specifically in disaster zones! (Wait, 13 is a woman?) She’s my favorite Hero!!" Ochaco squealed, hopping around like an excited fan.

Aizawa approached 13 and asked about All Might’s absence. 13 whispered into his ear that All Might had pushed his limit doing Pro work on his way to school and was currently recovering in the lounge.

"Sigh... that man is truly the pinnacle of irrationality," Aizawa muttered. Michikatsu inwardly agreed.

"Now then... before we begin our lesson, a few words. Let me see... one, two, three... five, six points..."

"""There are so many!"""

"As you all know, my Quirk is [Black Hole]. It is a power that can suck in anything and turn it to dust."

"With that power, you can save anyone from any disaster!" Midoriya noted.

"True... but it is also a power that can easily take a life. Many of you likely possess similar Quirks. In this superhuman society, we regulate the use of Quirks through a strict licensing system, but please never forget: individuals hold powers that can easily snuff out a life with a single mistake."

13’s words were heavy and true. This was a world where superpowers were a mundane reality, and because of that, people often grew complacent until a tragedy occurred.

Michikatsu understood this better than anyone. His own strength—the power of a monster that transcended human limits—could crush steel like paper or level a city block with a single Blood Demon Art.

"Therefore, let us approach this lesson with a fresh mindset! Learn how to use your Quirks for the sake of human life! Your power is not for hurting others; it is for saving them! I hope you etch this into your hearts through today’s training. That is all. Thank you for listening!"

"Beautiful!!"

"That’s our 13! So cool!"

As 13 finished, the students cheered. Even a "monstrous" existence like Michikatsu could be a savior depending on his intent. Any power can be a chef's knife or a murderer's blade, depending on the wielder's heart.

"Now then, first—"

Suddenly, a black portal began to swirl in the center plaza. A group of rough-looking individuals stepped through, led by someone truly dangerous.

"■■■■■——■■■!!!"

A grotesque, screeching creature emerged—an inhuman being with its brain exposed to the air. It was a Nomu, a bio-engineered living weapon.

"What is that?"

"Is this a sudden start pattern, like the entrance exam?"

"Do not move!!!" Aizawa shouted, his hair rising as his goggles snapped into place. "Those are..."

"Villains," Michikatsu finished.

"Eraser Head, No. 13... and according to the data 'he' gave us, the curriculum was supposed to be different. Our target, All Might, isn't even here," a raspy voice muttered.

"What about that freak with the eyes...?"

"He is over there."

"I’ll kill him... I’ll definitely kill him. All Might... that bastard... I'll kill everyone."

Shigaraki Tomura giggled, standing at the center of the mob. Seeing him talk so casually about murdering his students, a cold, sharp bloodlust began to boil within Michikatsu.

"A swarm of mere insects... gathering together to beg for death..."

Today, he decided, not a single one of them would leave this place alive.
