Chapter 1: Reincarnated as a Hunter

What is Cyberpunk?

To me, Cyberpunk was a game of bugs so seamless you could not tell them apart from the direction, killer soundtracks, and optimization bad enough to make you clutch the back of your neck.

That was my assessment of the game called Cyberpunk.

But then, after watching Edgerunners—a recommendation from that damn friend of mine—my opinion flipped in an instant.

The distinctive characters and story. The OST that made something swell up inside you.

The moment I heard Edgerunners was getting an update, I reinstalled Cyberpunk, which I had quit playing.

And the first thing I did after launching the game was visit the locations from the anime and mess with Adam Smasher.

If that is why I woke up in this town where all you see is snow, then I am sorry, Adam Smasher, but I got so immersed that I blew your head off with Rebecca's gun.

If you had me possess the body of some pathetic-looking little kid in a town where it does nothing but snow because of that, then I am not grateful. Not even a little.

"Hey! Bane, what are you doing? Get over here, now! We don't have time to dawdle!"

As I stood there in confusion, blankly staring at the snowy landscape, a young woman's voice called out behind me.

"Bane, did you see something again this time? Why are you so out of it today?"

It seemed my name was Bane.

I had never seen my parents' faces even once, but they sure gave me a good name.

"I don't care what's going on with you, but we need to get out of here right now."

When that woman—no, my older sister—came closer, I realized that I was Bane. At the same time, memories that felt like mine yet not mine came flooding in.

My name was Bane B. Vitali. I was nine years old, and that woman was my older sister, leading the hunter Nathan.

I was a hunter—a Nomad from Canada.

It seemed I had fallen into the world of Cyberpunk.
