After taking a sufficient rest(?) on the Forge World, we soon boarded an Imperial vessel to answer a request for aid from another star system.
However, since we did not know exactly what we would be facing, Tess, who had been allowed to observe the command staff, explained it to us.
"They say a remnant Tyranid fleet is heading for our Rosetta Sector. We are on our way to support them."
Tyranids. They were a cancerous blight that shook the very foundations of the Imperium.
Before invading, these abhorrent creatures planted heretics called Genestealers on a planet, built up their strength, and incited an internal uprising before beginning their invasion.
Once the planet had been thrown into such chaos, they would deploy billions of organisms upon it, devouring every living thing and turning it into nutrients...
"If it is a remnant fleet, what numbers are estimated?"
"Several tens of millions, apparently."
"That is quite a number..."
"Then I shall visit the Magos for a moment. I need to change my armament to flamers in preparation for the Tyranids."
First, I changed my armament in preparation for the Tyranid battle. Weapons that used ammunition were sufficient for piercing enemy armor and sweeping them aside, but what we would be facing this time was not their main force, but remnants.
Rather than the numerous elite forces of a Hive Fleet, we could expect many small fry.
In that case, it would be best to incinerate them completely with intense heat, ensuring that not even hills could be piled from their corpses.
This battlefield will likely have only Tess and me taking the lead. Erin's Knight is specialized for fighting elite enemies rather than large numbers of foes.
Thinking that, I returned to my quarters to end the day.
"Your Majesty, Emperor..."
Before sleeping, Tess prayed to the Emperor, while Erin simply lay down.
"May His Majesty the Emperor watch over us."

999.M41 — The Great Rift emerges.
The Eah Star System in the Ultima Segmentum, completely consumed by the emergence of the Great Rift. Internal conditions unknown.
The neighboring Rosetta Sector falls to the invasion of Nurgle's Plague Host.
The relief force heading for the Rosetta Sector has gone missing.
No survivors confirmed. Numerous Adeptus Mechanicus vessels and Forge Worlds destroyed. The Knightly House, House Barbab, has fallen.
"This is our present situation."
"We are adrift in the Warp because of the Great Rift, and the light of the Astronomican cannot be seen. This situation will continue until we find a breach leading back to realspace."
"But the opportunity to prove our loyalty has not yet ended, has it, Aeldari?"
Erin replied after hearing the contents of the prophecy spoken of by the Aeldari, Jerrie Donato. As she said, their honor and duty had not ended.
Once they returned to realspace, they would once again be loyal to the Imperium—
At that moment, an adjutant who had been checking the crew for signs of corruption approached and spoke.
"No signs of corruption have been detected among the crew. Thanks be to the Omnissiah."
"Thanks be to His Majesty the Emperor. That is fortunate. Then hurry and find a breach leading to realspace."
Tess spoke to the Magos.
"Understood. I shall begin the search at once."
