Chapter 74: Chapter 74: Slaughterer (Third Update—Please Follow and Vote)

After completing his attribute enhancements, Luke turned his attention to the Inheritance Crystals he still had left.

He had no plans to use them to enhance his specialization abilities. But simply spending them as currency in the marketplace would be a waste, so after some consideration, he decided to further enhance his Armament Haki with Inheritance Crystals.

His Armament Haki was currently Level 6. That was because he had not brought it into the Kengan world to train, which had saved him a few Inheritance Crystals.

He discovered that starting from Level 6, enhancing Armament Haki with Inheritance Crystals became more expensive than before.

Previously, raising Armament Haki by one level required only one Small Inheritance Crystal. Now, it took three. Luke guessed it was because the Haki system grew stronger the higher it went.

"Endspace, enhance my Armament Haki by one level."

【Request received. Confirm the use of 3 Small Inheritance Crystals and 1,200 Endspace Coins for enhancement?】

Luke confirmed. He intended to raise his Armament Haki to Level 9 in one go, then use his remaining time in Endspace to train it to Level 10.

Some time later, Luke had only one Small Inheritance Crystal left, while his wallet had shrunk to 37,800 Endspace Coins.

The results were gratifying. After Armament Haki passed Level 5, its power had noticeably improved. Now that he had raised it all the way to Level 9, the changes were even more obvious.

He drew Prison Demon across his arm. It rang with the sound of metal striking metal, yet only a faint white mark appeared on his skin—and that was with Prison Demon after its advancement.

Yes. After slaying Shen Wulong, Prison Demon’s growth had already reached 100%. Following several hours of transformation, it had now grown into a purple-quality main weapon.

【Prison Demon】

Origin: Bleach

Rarity: Purple

Main Weapon: Bladed Weapon

Durability: 100/100

Sharpness: 32 (+12)

Toughness: 31 (+11)

Usage Requirement: Pioneer No. 008 only.

Details: A Zanpakuto forged by Pioneer No. 008 by pouring his soul into an Asauchi. It has been automatically bound. This equipment cannot be sold or traded, and no other user can activate this weapon.

Weapon Skill 1 (Passive): [Soul Nourishment]

Skill Description: After the Explorer kills an enemy using Prison Demon, it devours a small amount of the enemy’s soul power to nourish Prison Demon, thereby increasing its growth. The Explorer may also feed Prison Demon with their own soul. Doing so can grant an extremely high growth rate. Warning: This method is exceedingly dangerous.

Current Growth Progress: 3.91%

Weapon Skill 2 (Active): [Shikai]

Skill Description: After releasing Shikai, the Explorer’s Soul Source will be continuously consumed, revealing Prison Demon’s form. While in Shikai, all of the Explorer’s combat attributes temporarily increase by 3 points, neural reflex speed is enhanced to a certain extent, and Prison Demon’s Sharpness and Toughness increase.

Shikai Skill (Passive): [Demonic Malice]

When Prison Demon damages an enemy, it additionally inflicts an Erosion effect. An enemy affected by Erosion has their natural recovery speed reduced by 50% and loses Erosion damage equal to 20% of this attack’s maximum damage every second. The Erosion effect lasts for 10 seconds, and Erosion effects on the same wound can stack.

Cooldown: None

Rating: 200+ (100–200)

Comment: A demon god is imprisoned within your heart.

Prison Demon had advanced into purple equipment—and had leaped straight to a max-rated purple main weapon. It was clear that this advancement had drastically improved its abilities.

Its Sharpness and Toughness had risen substantially, while Shikai’s effects had become even more outrageous. The all-attribute increase had become 3 points.

Meanwhile, Shikai’s original effect had been listed separately, becoming the third skill exclusive to Prison Demon’s Shikai. Its effect was worlds apart from before.

The healing reduction had risen directly from 10% to 50%, Erosion damage had doubled outright, and its duration had doubled as well. Taken together, its damage was several tiers higher than before.

That was the strength of purple equipment. It was not something a first-rank Explorer could normally get their hands on. Luke had browsed the marketplace for quite a while earlier and seen only two or three pieces of purple equipment—and their owners had been unable to sell them.

Under current market conditions in Endspace, a purple-quality main weapon cost roughly 10,000 to 30,000 Origin Coins. It was difficult for an ordinary first-rank Explorer to produce that kind of fortune for purple equipment.

But Luke had the capital. He still had over 30,000 Endspace Coins on hand, enough to buy one or two suitable pieces of purple equipment.

He had learned many martial arts in the Kengan Ashura world, and quite a few had been judged as skills by Endspace. Therefore, there was no need for him to rush when it came to nurturing the Origin Seed.

Nurturing the Origin Seed also took time. Absorbing his existing skills alone would require dozens of days, so for the moment, he did not need to continue buying skill-scroll items within Endspace.

And as a Pioneer with plenty of money to spare, he naturally could not own only a main weapon.

After washing up, Luke headed straight for the first-rank Explorer marketplace.

Just as he arrived, he received a mail notification from Endspace.

【According to the contract, the Endspace Coins owed to the Pioneer by Explorer Kure have been sent to your mailbox. Pioneer, please check it.】

A smile appeared on Luke’s face. He had nearly forgotten about that. Kure had returned after the Kengan Annihilation Tournament ended. Given Endspace’s nature, though they had returned several days apart, from Endspace’s perspective they should have arrived back here at roughly the same time.

Kure had likely just finished settling his rewards as well. Once he had Endspace Coins in hand, he had immediately repaid the debt.

That put Luke’s funds at over 39,000 Endspace Coins. Perhaps he could buy two pieces of purple equipment.

After browsing for a while, Luke saw a sizable crowd of Explorers gathered around a stall. Curious, he walked over as well.

"Your price is way too high. No one here can afford it."

"Make it cheaper. I’ll take it for ten thousand!"

"Ma’am, why not stop setting up shop here and try your luck with the second-rank Explorers upstairs?"

"..."

The onlookers all spoke at once. Once Luke squeezed in and saw the stall owner, he froze for a moment because he knew her.

The stall owner was a cool, aloof woman with a single ponytail. It was Tutu, whom he had met in the Kengan world.

"Boss!?"

Tutu was also somewhat surprised to see Luke. She had not expected to run into him again so soon.

At Tutu’s cry of "Boss," the people around Luke immediately moved a little farther away, their eyes carrying a hint of awe.

There was purple equipment for sale at Tutu’s stall, which alone proved that either she herself or the team behind her was formidable. Someone like her stood among the upper ranks of first-rank Explorers—yet she called this black-clad man "Boss." What did that imply?

Explorers who had survived through several worlds were not fools. They all memorized Luke’s appearance. If they ran into him in a mission world later, they would definitely stay far away.

"Not bad. Is it yours?"

Luke glanced at the accessory on the stall, praising it but also sounding doubtful.

He knew Tutu’s level. Besides, the Kengan world could not produce something like this. Where had Tutu gotten a purple accessory?

"You misunderstand, Boss. A senior from our adventure group asked me to sell it for her. She urgently needs cash, so this is already the lowest price."

Tutu explained as she stood and picked up the dark-red ring, passing it to Luke so he could inspect it.

【Slaughterer】

Origin: Berserk (Derivative World)

Quality: Purple

Equipment Type: Accessory

Usage Requirement: Strength 24, Spirit 26

Details: A ring created by the God Hand, imbued with demonic power. It contains a bloody, ominous force.

Equipment Skill 1: [Berserk] (Passive)

Skill Effect: After equipping Slaughterer, the Pioneer has a 20% chance to land a critical hit when attacking. Critical hits deal 200% additional damage.

Equipment Skill 2: [Slaughter] (Passive)

Skill Effect: When attacking while wearing Slaughterer, the Pioneer additionally deals 10% magic damage and 10% physical damage. Attacks also carry a Rending effect, making it easier to destroy an enemy’s limbs.

Rating: 200

Comment: Slaughter to your heart’s content in a pool of blood!

Although this equipment did not have a plus sign, it was still a max-rated piece of equipment—an absolute top-tier item.

"How much?"

Luke asked.
