The only thing that mildly annoyed Luke was the glaring Legendary Chest, which was labeled as compensation for the drop from killing Muzan.
In other words, killing Muzan had given him a chance to obtain a Legendary Chest. But since no chest had dropped, Endspace had compensated him with one instead. That left Luke feeling like he had taken a small loss.
After all, it had taken up one of his reward slots, and there was no way he could pass up something Legendary.
Seriously. Wasn’t his luck supposed to be decent? Why hadn’t a chest dropped?
And that side quest had been pretty thoughtless too. Why did it count only the Twelve Kizuki and ordinary Demons? Why wasn’t Muzan included?
Still, Luke only grumbled internally for a moment. His gains from this world had been plentiful overall. After chugging down the rest of his cola, he pulled the coffee table closer and prepared to sort through everything he had earned in this world.
He had previously discovered that chests dropped by Demons mostly produced equipment and items related to Demons—things he could not use directly. That was why he had not rushed to open the chests he obtained while still in that world.
He had set aside the two Purple Chests obtained on Mount Natagumo because he felt their quality was probably mediocre. Later, during the battle in the Infinity Castle, he had harvested a large number of chests. With no threats left, he spent the following days focusing on training himself and saved up all the chest-opening surprises for one big session.
Yeah, he liked saving them up and going all in at once. With his good luck, this luxurious chest-opening spree was bound to yield plenty of loot.
There were currently four Purple Chests on the table. They had been dropped by Upper Rank Five, Lower Rank One, Upper Rank Three, and Upper Rank Two.
There were three Rare Chests as well. Luke had not paid much attention to who had dropped them. They should have come from the Lower Rank Twelve Kizuki he had casually cut down while passing through the Infinity Castle. He had picked them all up while sweeping the battlefield.
Besides those, the remaining chests were all Dead Man’s Chests. There were six in total. Qingfeng and that unknown Upper Rank Eight had contributed two of them. Luke did not know who the other four had come from, but they were most likely members of the new Twelve Kizuki Muzan had promoted.
Based on his understanding of game mechanics before coming to Endspace, Luke felt that he ought to build up some luck before opening the good chests. So he started with the chests he considered the most worthless.

[You have obtained the Blood Demon Art: Blood Vines Skill Scroll (Rare).]
Luke remained calm after opening the three Rare Chests. The drops were garbage, but he had expected that. They were only Rare Chests, after all. He had not expected anything particularly good from them.
He checked the Blood Vines Skill Scroll. It was a pretty average spell skill, and it required a Demon bloodline to use. It would probably be impossible to sell on its own.
Luke calmly continued opening chests, taking out the two Purple Chests from Lower Rank One and Upper Rank Five.
[You have obtained 4,000 Endspace Coins.]
[You have obtained 6,000 Endspace Coins.]
Luke froze when he heard the two notifications. "That’s it? It’s over?"
These were Purple-quality Chests. Where was the equipment? Where were the items?
He had previously checked Endspace’s published drop rates for chests obtained within mission worlds. Supposedly, there was only a ten percent chance of directly opening Endspace Coins. How had he hit it twice in a row?
Something was wrong. Seriously wrong.
The calm on Luke’s face wavered. He drew a deep breath and prepared to open some chests with controllable outcomes—Dead Man’s Chests, whose item information could supposedly be judged by touch.
He opened a Dead Man’s Chest, reached inside, and carefully felt around.
Hmm. The object felt soft yet somewhat resilient. It was long and slender, with a handle. Luke analyzed it and concluded that it should be some kind of whip-type main weapon.
So he swiftly pulled it out, ready to verify his guess.
[You have obtained a BDSM Whip ×1.]
"Fuck!"
Luke threw the leather whip away, thinking that Endspace Explorers were all seriously screwed in the head.
He had two chances left, so he continued drawing items.
[You have obtained 600 Endspace Coins.]
[You have obtained 200 Endspace Coins.]
Luke: ???
He remembered this chest being dropped by that Upper Rank Eight. Fine, maybe it did not have equipment or items. But was the guy really this broke!?
The expression on Luke’s face was no longer remotely benevolent. He opened the next Dead Man’s Chest.
[You have obtained 800 Endspace Coins.]
[You have obtained Endspace-brand Mosquito Repellent ×1.]
[You have obtained a Large Bar of Soap ×1.]
Staring at the pile of trash he had pulled out, Luke began to doubt his life choices. For a moment, he did not know whether to question his Luck attribute or the sanity of Endspace Explorers.
After pulling out miscellaneous junk repeatedly, though, he started to understand. Those Explorers who stored weird items aside, most Explorers probably stuffed their chests with junk so that, after their deaths, their Dead Man’s Chests would not benefit their enemies.
After one failure after another, Luke became a little self-destructive. He began opening the remaining chests at high speed without bothering to feel through them carefully.
The result was that he opened five Dead Man’s Chests in a row, and nearly all of them contained Endspace Coins and trash. It was not until the sixth Dead Man’s Chest—the one Qingfeng had dropped—that a smile finally bloomed on Luke’s face.
[You have obtained the Seven Emotions Token (Purple) ×1.]
It was a max-score Purple-quality item. After use, it could summon Upper Rank Four to fight for him. If Upper Rank Four did not die during the battle, it could be recalled into the token afterward. Once the token recharged, it could be used again.
Its utility was extremely powerful. While it was not especially useful to Luke, giving this thing to a first-rank Explorer would practically let them steamroll every rank-one difficulty world.
Of course, ordinary first-rank Explorers could not afford such a top-tier item—or special equipment—in the first place. Luke planned to sell it to an adventure group.
Holding the Seven Emotions Token, Luke felt delighted at first, then frowned slightly. He realized that this item should have been obtained by Qingfeng after killing Upper Rank Four.
Did that not mean Qingfeng had killed an Upper Rank Four from the same faction, then—with no probability bonuses whatsoever—gotten a Purple Chest and opened such an incredible item from it!?
Something was wrong. Very wrong. Why could a weakling like that get a chest drop, while Luke had killed so many Demons and not gotten a single chest beyond those from the Twelve Kizuki?
With that question in mind, Luke reached inside and drew another item.
[You have obtained 1,800 Endspace Coins.]
The corner of his mouth twitched. Closing his eyes, he casually reached back in.
[You have obtained a Large Bowl of Aged Ramen ×1 (Purple).]
Luke checked the bowl of noodles’ properties. It came from the world of Food Wars! Shokugeki no Soma. After consumption, it rapidly restored a large amount of Soul Source and a certain amount of Life Source. It was a decent recovery item.
His luck had finally turned around!
Luke immediately perked up. Riding that momentum, he prepared to open the remaining chests in one go.
[You have obtained an Expert-Level Martial Arts Mastery Scroll ×1.]
Upper Rank Three’s chest had produced a scroll, but Luke felt it was useless to him. He could check the market price and sell it.
[You have obtained the Blood Demon Art: Mist Ice: Lotus Bodhisattva Skill Scroll ×1.]
Luke considered the item from Upper Rank Two’s chest equally lackluster. This Skill Scroll also required a Demon bloodline to use. Its power was decent, but the bloodline restriction severely limited its value.
Luke had obtained a powerful bloodline item from the hidden quest, but he did not particularly want to use it. The Other Shore Demon Bloodline had side effects that Luke could not accept.
This was the reward he had obtained from Tamayo’s Research quest. The bloodline was Legendary, even stronger than Muzan’s original bloodline. It was an incredibly powerful bloodline with no obvious weakness because it was immune to sunlight. However, because it was still a Demon bloodline, it gave its user a certain urge to eat people, making it difficult to control.
Luke was confident he could control his desires, but bloodlines came with many restrictions. Explorers generally could not possess multiple bloodlines. Unlike cultivation methods and such, bloodlines usually had poor compatibility. So he wanted to find a bloodline item with a higher ceiling to use instead.
Therefore, he had already decided to bundle this bloodline together with several Blood Demon Arts and sell them. He just did not know whether there were any Explorers who could afford them.
With a solemn expression, Luke took out the final two chests: the Legendary Chests from Upper Rank One and Muzan Kibutsuji.
He reached for Upper Rank One’s chest first. It was the first Legendary Chest he had ever seen, and he was full of anticipation.
To Luke’s disappointment, no unusual phenomenon occurred, nor did any Legendary treasure appear. There was only a plain notification.
[You have obtained Small Inheritance Crystals ×10.]
Luke sank into thought. For the moment, he was not sure whether he had gained or lost. Inheritance Crystals were high-value goods with a price but virtually no supply in Endspace. Depending on market conditions, ten Small Inheritance Crystals were worth at least 40,000 Endspace Coins. Yet he could not help feeling that not pulling a Legendary item was a loss.
He took a deep breath and looked toward the final chest. "Endspace, this is a chest you specially supplied. Don’t screw me over!"
With that, he opened the chest in one motion.
At once, a blinding orange-yellow radiance surged from within the chest, illuminating the entire room.
Delight immediately appeared on Luke’s face. Based on his gaming experience, this usually meant he was about to get something good!
[You have obtained the Coward’s Pendant (Legendary).]
The smile on Luke’s face froze at the equipment’s name. But after calming down, he figured that since it had flashed, it should be decent equipment. Once the glow faded, he began seriously examining the pendant in his hand.
It was a blood-red, heart-shaped pendant with a translucent texture. Blood vessels crisscrossed within it, giving it an eerie sort of beauty.

Evaluation: Don’t be ashamed. Wear it, and you’ll be one tough little immortal bastard.
The corner of Luke’s mouth twitched as he read Endspace’s evaluation, though he had to admit that it was fairly accurate.
As a Legendary accessory, the Coward’s Pendant had only two skills, but each was powerful. It greatly enhanced its wearer’s vitality. It could be called a divine item for a main tank.
First, the thirty percent increase to maximum Life Source was equivalent to adding nearly a third to one’s health bar at once. It gave the wearer a much larger margin for error in battle.
Meanwhile, the five-hundred-percent increase to natural Life Source recovery was an incredibly powerful medicine-saving effect. If it were used together with Luke’s bed, simply sleeping would provide recovery comparable to some recovery items.
Even stronger was the healing amplification provided by the skill.
Put simply, if Luke originally needed five seconds to use Kaidō to heal a severed limb, he could now reattach an arm in under a second.
If the main tanks of those large groups saw this pendant, they would probably bankrupt themselves trying to buy it. After all, they usually had healers behind them keeping them alive during battle.
Luke had no intention of selling it, though. It had a minor side effect and an embarrassing name, but it was undoubtedly a top-tier Legendary accessory. His Heart of the Giant could finally be retired.
After finishing his chest-opening session, Luke got up and headed out. He was preparing to visit the Enhancement Hall and enhance himself. He currently had twenty-five attribute points on hand, enough for a major boost.
Besides that, he was also very interested in the attribute-cap rewards Endspace had mentioned.
