Chapter 61: Chapter 61: A Monster Among Monsters

Boom—

The instant Fei Wangfang moved, the arena floor shattered beneath him. Dirt blasted outward as he surged forward at terrifying speed, opening with the essence of the Niko Style.

Niko Style: Fire Kata—Raging Fire. An unpredictable footwork technique that flickered like flame, meant to confuse the enemy.

Fei Wangfang circled Luke, moving so quickly that afterimages trailed behind him like dancing firelight.

The instant he thought Luke had revealed an opening, he closed in. With Niko Style: Adamantine Kata—Ironbreaker, he instantly hardened the muscles in his arms and unleashed six straight punches in one breath.

Bang bang bang bang bang bang—

A string of explosions tore through the air. Where fists and palms collided, the resulting shockwaves sent dust billowing across the arena.

"Oh—! This is practically a clash between superhumans! They’re moving too fast for the naked eye to follow! Fei Wangfang, the A-list fighter from Purgatory, is actually threatening the Fang of Metsudo!?"

Sayaka Katahara called from the commentator’s booth. "No—the Fang of Metsudo blocked that raging assault! Even against Fei Wangfang’s berserk offense, he’s taken every single move head-on! Should we say that he, too, possesses a superhuman body?"

The atmosphere in the arena had reached its peak. After several days of matches, this was the first time the spectators had witnessed a fight of such staggering caliber.

The fighters in the stands all wore grave expressions. Most of them had to admit that Fei Wangfang was monstrously strong.

Even Wakatsuki Takeshi, the man with the most victories in Kengan matches and muscle density fifty-two times that of an ordinary human, furrowed his brow. He could tell that Fei Wangfang’s current power was no weaker than his own, while Fei’s speed and technique were beyond anything Wakatsuki could match.

If he encountered Fei Wangfang in a match, he might not have any good answer for him—unless Fei foolishly chose to compete with him head-on in raw strength. Only then would Wakatsuki have a chance to win with his ultimate technique, Blast Core.

What terrified the gathered fighters now was that Fei Wangfang, with [Divine Demon] activated, had become absurdly powerful. He had no weaknesses in speed, strength, or technique.

Yet even with such power, Fei Wangfang’s desperate, berserk offensive had failed to injure that man by even a single hair.

That was right. The man named Luke—the new Fang of Metsudo—had defended against every attack with room to spare!

His violet-black eyes seemed to see through every move Fei Wangfang made and respond before it happened.

At times, it even seemed as though Luke raised his hand first, and only then did Fei Wangfang throw a punch into it.

"They’re on completely different levels as martial artists..."

Gaolang Wongsawat, the Thai God of War, spoke with a grave expression. "Every one of Fei Wangfang’s moves has been seen through."

"It really is like monsters fighting each other. And this generation’s Fang of Metsudo is a monster among monsters."

Wakatsuki Takeshi said it plainly.

Under the watchful eyes of the many fighters, the battle continued for over three minutes. Fei Wangfang was already fighting beyond his limits.

After another exchange forced them apart, Fei Wangfang panted heavily. Even with his special physique, [Divine Demon] had reached its limit. If he continued fighting or pushed its output any higher, death was likely waiting for him.

"Not bad. Your Niko Style is the most complete I’ve seen so far."

Luke gave his assessment. His palms had also reddened; receiving all of Fei Wangfang’s attacks had not been as effortless as it looked to the spectators.

With [Divine Demon] active, Fei Wangfang’s raw stats surpassed Luke’s normal state somewhat. His offensive techniques were also formidable. His combat mastery had likely reached the Master level, and the force behind his fists and kicks was not so easy to redirect.

Luke judged that Fei Wangfang had reached his limit. If the fight continued, the man might die, so Luke decided to end it. Otherwise, it would be a waste.

With that thought, he moved beneath Fei Wangfang’s tense gaze.

Since the battle began, this was Luke’s first proactive attack!

Fei Wangfang stared fixedly at Luke. In the next instant, his eyes widened sharply. Even with [Fallen Demon], which slowed his perception of time, he had nearly failed to see Luke’s movement.

Luke accelerated in an instant, closing the distance between them.

Fei Wangfang’s martial instinct told him Luke was about to throw a punch. Instinctively, he wanted to use Niko Style: Water Kata—Weeping Willow, a technique that used the flow of force to neutralize attacks or throw the opponent off balance.

But his brain processed the situation at breakneck speed and discarded that option. Luke’s control over the flow of force was worthy of a grandmaster. Trying to answer him with Weeping Willow would be suicide.

By instinct, he made the correct judgment.

Empowered by [Divine Demon], he activated Niko Style: Adamantine Kata—[Indestructible]. At the same time, he did not forget to counterattack, firing an Adamantine Kata—Ironbreaker punch at Luke’s jaw.

Boom—

The sound of fist striking chest was nothing like something flesh and blood could produce. Fei Wangfang contracted his muscles and used [Indestructible] to harden his defense, while the fist that struck him was coated in a dark black sheen.

Their strength was clearly close—Fei Wangfang’s was even slightly greater at that moment—yet he felt an unmatched force crashing into him like a landslide and tsunami. It threw his body off balance, making it impossible for his own punch to land on Luke’s vital point.

Luke stepped forward, casually brushing Fei Wangfang’s Ironbreaker punch aside with one hand as if parting a stream. Then came six consecutive straight punches, every one of them striking a vital point on Fei Wangfang’s front.

Those six punches contained no flashy tricks. They were plain, direct, and backed by utterly solid force, making Fei Wangfang cough up blood.

The instant Fei Wangfang lost his balance, Luke drove force through his waist. With the power of his rotation, he delivered a ferocious kick to Fei Wangfang’s temple.

Like a footballer launching a shot at the goal, he sent Fei Wangfang flying dozens of meters. The man slammed into the wall surrounding the arena, leaving a shallow, human-shaped crater.

Fei Wangfang slid down the cracked wall, collapsed to the ground, and lost consciousness.

"The winner has been decided!"

The referee and Sayaka Katahara shouted together. The cheers in the arena climbed to their highest point as everyone cried Luke’s name. They had witnessed the birth of a new invincible legend.

Luke brushed the dust from his body and turned toward the fighters’ tunnel. He could barely wait to begin reaping the harvest.

Prison Demon, resting within his storage space, was also stirring with anticipation.

Worm, show yourselves already. Bring me more entertainment.

These matches were genuinely boring. Fortunately, he would soon meet Master Kuroki. That ought to be a decent martial arts exchange.

…………

"Fei Wangfang actually lost. And Luke still seemed to have plenty left in the tank. That isn’t good news."

Edward Wu said it with a smile. Though he called it bad news, he showed no sign of nervousness.

After all, he was the strongest Wu Hei of the current generation and the leader of the Westward Faction. In his eyes, no one in the world was stronger than him except the Connector.

"Fei Wangfang is still too young, but even after activating [Divine Demon], he suffered a complete defeat. That truly surprises me."

Tiger Niko frowned at the screen. "This Luke may become an obstacle."

"It doesn’t matter."

The handsome man seated on the sofa, holding an old-fashioned smoking pipe, spoke slowly. "I’ll handle him."

"Oh? Xavier, it’s been a long time since you fought. Can you still fight at all?"

Tiger Niko looked intrigued. As high-ranking officers under the Connector, he and Edward Wu frequently went out to get their hands dirty. But Xavier usually only served as the Connector’s "caretaker."

His main duties were keeping the Connector company while he ate, drank, and enjoyed himself. Everyone knew Xavier had never neglected his martial arts, but he had not personally taken action in many years.

"Don’t worry. I’ve reviewed Luke’s files. He’s only in his early twenties. No matter how talented he is, he cannot be a match for any of us. If I make a move, I have absolute confidence that I can kill him."

Xavier said, "Remember, we aren’t fighters."

Tiger Niko and Edward Wu both revealed savage grins. That was right. They were not fighters; they were here to destroy the Kengan Association.

That meant they would use every method available. Ordinary fighters might be formidable unarmed combatants, but when it came to killing with weapons, they could never compare to professional murderers like them.

As they spoke, Xavier’s phone rang. He answered with some impatience. "You’d better not have lied. Otherwise, even if you run to the ends of the world, I’ll kill you."
