Chapter 2: Lion Sin

"Hm? Where is this...?"

Escanor had opened his eyes in a dark forest. Standing in the silent woods, where not even the sound of insects crawling could be heard, he looked around cautiously.

"...How very strange. I was certain that I..."

Escanor muttered as he looked down at his own hands.

"...should have died."

That was right. He had died.

Escanor, the Sin of Pride from The Seven Deadly Sins.

The knight of the Seven Deadly Sins known as the Sin of Pride had burned to ashes after his body could no longer endure the battle against the Demon King.

And yet Escanor, who should have been gone, was alive now. Not only alive, but completely unharmed. And more than that...

Fwoosh... Crackle...

"...Even my Grace is here..."

The strongest power he had wielded. The power of the sun was still with him. But what was even more shocking was...

"...It should definitely be night right now."

His ability could only be used when the sun rose in the daytime. And yet, even in the dead of night, his body was not weakening at all, and he could still use his power.

"...For now..."

Just as Escanor was thinking of leaving the forest,

Rustle...

"Shall I deal with the rats first?"

The moment Escanor finished speaking, something sprang out from the forest and lunged at him.

"A human! Fresh huma..."

But whatever it was had no chance to finish. Escanor seized the creature by the head and slammed it into the ground, leaving its skull crushed and its body limp against the shattered earth.

"This one... is it a demon...?"

Escanor analyzed the thing he had killed.

Horns on its head and a violent nature that attacked anyone it saw... But the fact that it could speak made it clearly something different from the Demon Clan.

"...Hm?"

Then Escanor looked at it and briefly frowned in confusion. Even though its head had clearly been smashed in, the creature was still twitching slightly, and the damaged area was even beginning to heal.

"...K-Khagh! How dare you slam me into the ground?!"

As its mouth regenerated, the thing shouted at Escanor, and once its eyes had recovered, it glared at him.

"...I have a question for you. What are you?"

Escanor kept the creature pinned down with sheer force, while it struggled desperately to break free.

"Hah?! Like hell I’m telling you that! More importantly, let go of me!"

"...I see. You are impossible to converse with."

Escanor sighed and slammed the creature’s head into the ground once more.

KWAANG!

"Keh?!"

"I do not have that much patience. Choose. Either tell me the information you know, or have your head driven into the ground until you can no longer recover."

With that, Escanor lifted the creature’s head again.

"...I’ve been watching this from the start, and now you—keh?!"

BANG! KWAANG! BANG!!

Escanor spent a long while smashing the creature’s head over and over again.
