Chapter 37: North Wales-2

Clatter—!!

The porcelain bowl containing the warm abalone congee shattered into a thousand pieces, scattering its contents miserably across the floor.

Artoria Alter stood frozen like a statue, her mouth half-open. Her coldly luminous golden pupils had lost their focus, drifting aimlessly in the void.

...A... Dad?

For five long years, she had searched for Kay, vowing that if he were dead, she would spend her life seeking vengeance.

And yet, the brother she had yearned for so desperately had not only fled to another world to start a life with some unknown woman, but had even gone so far as to father a child?

“...Ha, haha.”

A hollow, breathless laugh escaped her lips.

Soon, thick droplets of tears began to fall from her reddened eyes. Though she had radiated pure venom even while locked in Taquin’s dungeon, in this moment, she looked like a broken child who had been stripped of everything and miserably abandoned by the world.

“A-Alter? Are you crying?! I’m sorry! I’m truly sorry! I’m a piece of trash!”

Kay, his face pale with panic, dropped to his knees and began frantically gathering the broken shards of the bowl with his bare hands.

“Why... why must you inflict such cruel treatment upon me?”

Alter kept her head bowed, her voice heavy and trembling as she spat out the words.

“I have admired you since the most distant of memories...! I grew up basking in your warmth since the days I wore diapers, and we were close enough to see each other's ugliest, most wretched depths without hiding a thing...! Why... why must my place be stolen by some vulgar, interloping sluts?!”

Wait, no matter how I hear it, that middle part should not have been said out loud!

The tyrant's reason completely collapsed.

The cold, dignified shell was stripped away, revealing a destructive obsession fueled by affection deficiency and poisonous jealousy. It was a total "menhera" awakening.

“And... in the end, the culprit behind all this tragedy is that wicked incubus bastard.”

Alter snapped her head up. Her face was a mess of tears, but her gaze was fierce enough to reduce everything in sight to ash.

“Merlin! If that wretched piece of filth hadn't thrown Kay into that hellhole called the Abyssal Realm, I would have been Kay's first woman! I would have been the mother of that child!! I will find where he is hiding and skin him alive!”

As Alter tried to leap from the bed, Kay hurriedly wrapped his arms around her to hold her back.

“Calm down! You haven't even recovered yet, where are you going?! I told you, I'll handle the revenge later!”

“Let go!! I cannot endure this!! I will make you pay in blood for the five years of pure devotion I have lost!!”

Just then, a leisurely laugh echoed from behind Kay.

“My, my, our dear sister-in-law. You certainly have a fiery temper. But I'm afraid it's already too late. Your husband's nighttime techniques have already been perfectly tamed by this Tamamo.”

Tamamo covered her mouth with her hand, her fox ears twitching playfully.

At those words, Alter's gaze pierced Tamamo with lethal intensity. Thanks to the sensitive sense of smell inherited from her dragon blood, she could clearly detect Kay's scent mixed brazenly with the thick magical energy radiating from Tamamo.

“You seductive beast... how dare you wag your tongue so freely in my presence. You're nothing but a vulgar vixen who crawled into Kay's bed with a beast's tail.”

“Vulgar? I am a wonderful, well-trained housewife who has completed her bridal training! If anything, isn't it far more unhealthy for a sister-in-law to try and pounce on her brother just because they aren't blood-related?”

“You...!! What does that matter! If we aren't blood-related, then there is no problem! Even the gods of the Age of Gods married within the family!”

“Hey, Tamamo! Please stop adding fuel to the fire! And Alter, while that might be true, that is a very dangerous thing to say!”

Kay shouted as he pushed Tamamo away, but the situation had already spiraled out of control.

“...The cleanup of the remnants in the courtyard is complete, Master. What is all this commotion? I can hear the screaming from outside.”

“Ugh, I'm covered in dust. I just cleaned this place, why is it a mess again?”

The door to the lord's office opened again, and Medusa and Jeanne d’Arc Alter entered after completing their mission.

As two more women appeared, Alter's growling stopped abruptly.

Her cold gaze began to scan the two Servants up and down, slowly and obsessively.

Medusa, whose voluptuous curves were practically bursting through her black tights.

Jeanne d’Arc Alter, wearing an outfit with a plunging neckline and a dissatisfied expression.

Even Tamamo, who was fanning herself nearby, had a generous cleavage overflowing from the folds of her kimono.

Then, Alter cautiously looked down at her own chest.

Beneath her black shirt were the small, neat mounds characteristic of the Artorias.

Though they had grown larger than her original fate thanks to Kay's careful feeding, her growth had been stunted by the Holy Sword.

“....”

In that moment, it felt as if a loud, irreversible crack had formed in Alter's psyche.

“...Brother.”

Alter suddenly grabbed Kay by the collar. Her eyes were completely empty.

“Are these women all your concubines?”

“C-Concubines?! They're just Servants under contract...!”

“Do not deceive me!! Your scent is practically vibrating off their bodies!!”

At Alter's scream, Medusa blinked and replied in her characteristic indifferent yet seductive voice.

“Master's scent... well, that is only natural. From our dreams to reality, we mixed our mana so intensely all night long that it's only reasonable for the scent to linger.”

That single sentence from Medusa drove a stake through Alter's heart.

“You... who are you?! You gloomy monster reeking of snake magic... did you also mix your body with Kay's?!”

“It was part of the mana supply, but the satisfaction was excellent. Master's technique is comparable even to the gods of Greece.”

As Medusa replied leisurely from behind her blindfold, Alter's lips trembled. She grabbed Kay's collar again and shook him violently.

“Is this your true taste, Brother...?! Do you only desire females with breasts as bloated as beasts?! Because of such shallow lust, you ignored me and kept these filthy animals by your side?!”

“What are you talking about?! Bloated?!”

Kay tried to stop her in a panic, but Alter's reason had long since departed for the afterlife.

“And that Scáthach woman, the teacher who supposedly bore your seed—was her chest monstrous like these women too?! Answer me!!”

“...Well, objectively speaking, yes, they are large.”

“Aaaaaargh!! You perverted animal, worse than a beast!! You lust-crazed monster!!”

Alter wailed, pounding Kay's chest with her fists. Though the punches lacked mana, Kay silently endured the blows, unable to offer a single excuse against her overwhelming sorrow.

Then, Alter's gaze shifted to Jeanne d’Arc Alter, who was watching her from the corner with a strange expression.

Features that were eerily similar to her own. Pale skin and silver hair.

But a body that was incomparably more voluptuous and seductive, paired with an arrogant attitude.

“...And what is that woman?”

Alter pointed a trembling finger at Jeanne d’Arc Alter.

“You've cunningly mimicked my appearance, only to inflate your body in such a vulgar way. Kay, did you keep such a fake by your side as a replacement for me?! Do you truly believe this thing is an upgraded version of me?!”

“W-What?! Vulgar fake?! Upgraded version?!”

Jeanne d’Arc Alter, who had been listening quietly, snapped and slammed her pitch-black flag down.

“Are you done talking, you flat little brat?! The fact that our faces are similar is just a disgusting coincidence! And as for being an upgrade, as a woman, I'm obviously a hundred times more attractive than a bony stick like you! Why don't you look in a mirror and see why your brother doesn't see you as a woman?!”

“You detestable copy!! How dare you insult me?! You're nothing but a woman with big breasts!”

“All talk! Want me to roast you into a piece of charcoal right now?!”

Black flames erupted from Jeanne d’Arc Alter's fingertips, and Alter, refusing to back down, radiated murderous intent from her eyes. They lunged at each other as if to strangle one another.

“Stop it!! Both of you, get apart!!”

Kay hurriedly stepped between them, extinguishing Jeanne d’Arc Alter's flames with his bare hands.

“Jeanne, what are you doing to a patient?! And Alter, what's wrong with you! Jeanne is just a Servant who happened to be summoned from the Abyssal Realm, and I have never once thought of her as a replacement! You two are completely different!”

“...Is that truly the truth?”

Alter panted, looking up at Kay with eyes brimming with tears.

“Yes. Whether your chest is big or small, you are my most precious little sister. Your charm is unique to you. When you tug on my clothes and whine for something delicious, you're the cutest person in the world to me. Why would I ever compare you to anyone else?”

It was Kay's best effort at a sincere consolation.

However, to Alter, who was currently pushed to the edge of a cliff, the words "precious little sister" felt like a sharp dagger piercing her heart.

“...Brother.”

Alter gripped Kay's clothes tightly. As she lowered her head, a thick, intense obsession began to swirl in her golden eyes.

“I... I no longer wish to be your little sister.”

“Alter?”

“Not a single drop of blood is shared between us, so why must I be shackled by the role of a little sister for the rest of my life? Those beastly women shamelessly call you 'husband' and crawl into your bed, so why must I alone be pushed aside under the excuse of being a 'sister'?!”

Alter lifted her head and stared directly into Kay's eyes.

It was a desperate, blind longing that had cast aside all pride.

“I no longer need the shell of siblings. I don't care if I have to tear apart the chains of family. Just... take me as a woman, just like those other women, Kay. Look only at me....”

Alter buried her face deep in Kay's broad chest and looked up at him.

Her slender arms hugged his waist with a crushing grip. At this desperate and explicit obsession, Kay felt a cold, sticky sweat run down his spine.

...Something has gone seriously wrong here.

In the past, in Britain, the clueless Kay had dismissed the power struggles between the eight sisters as mere childish tantrums.

But the emotion Alter was showing him now was by no means a tantrum. It was a blind possessiveness toward a man, a destructive love that sought to possess him even if it meant breaking herself.

Could it be... that the others are like this too? Lancer's atmosphere was a bit strange as well.

Lancer's trembling touch in North Wales, and Alter's exploding obsession upon waking in Manchester—the faces of the remaining family members he had yet to meet, such as Artoria, Lily, and Lancer Alter, flashed through his mind like a kaleidoscope.

What if they were also looking at him with eyes that weren't those of family?

He felt an ominous sensation.

“Hehe~ look at this, she's just a little crybaby, isn't she? Not much for the Master's sister. So, what was it? As your new sister-in-law, I'll soothe you real nice, okay?”

“Indeed. Since I am the sister-in-law, embracing the Master's sister is part of my role as a wife.”

“Um, I think you might be teasing her a bit too much.”

Please, just all of you get lost.

“Ugh, I'll go get some more congee.”

“...I'm coming with you. I can't stand being around these lumps of fat any longer.”

“For now, we're like a new family, so please try to get along.”

“Brother taught me a term once. NTR, was it? Why should I be friendly with NTR women?”

“Sigh... let's just go.”

Somehow, he felt that his future was looking incredibly bleak.
