The Warp's four great gods could not conceal their displeasure.
For some time now, they had been unable to see certain planets and sectors at all.
And as a region of the Warp grew purified, they sensed that something greater than the Anathema had appeared.
Khorne's rage could not reach it.
Nurgle's touch could not reach it.
Tzeentch's schemes collapsed.
Slaanesh's laughter could not be heard.
The purified regions were filled with faith in humanity's master.
The darkness blanketing heaven and earth would vanish before the frail-looking sunlight of dawn.
The darkness of Chaos spread throughout the Warp melted away all too easily before a small light.
[My strength is weakening.]
[A great flaw has appeared in the Great Plan.]
[Hope and salvation are destroying darkness and despair.]
[My strength is weakening.]
[But that light is not wholly filled with hope.]
[The Anathema.]
[It is its power, yet it is not its power.]
[It angers me. But it is amusing. I shall place the skull of whatever causes it upon my throne.]
[If that one's soul became my child, what an adorable child it would be.]
[Perhaps I may come to know the complete future.]
[It could become a new pleasure.]
At the same time, they realized that this was an opportunity.
That unseen thing surely possessed a powerful soul.
Though its flesh and its own power were insignificant.
If they claimed that soul, they would become the god who ruled the entire Warp.
[I shall claim it before the Anathema does.]
And the one who mocked and sneered at everything overheard them.
The Clown laughed.
The Clown danced as he mocked them.
He mocked them, and mocked them again.
When the Clown's dance finally ended, he conveyed a message to his followers.
Protect him.
Protect him, and protect him again.
And prepare to laugh last.
For he who laughs last is the one who truly laughs.
[Ahahahahahahahahahaha!]
