The Fatui duo and I entered the Court of Fontaine. The city was as lavish as ever, and I headed for the Bouf d’ete Residence, which I had previously cleaned up with Capitano.
"Hey, Avrora. What is this place? It looks like some old-fashioned house. Is this where you’re staying? It’s not even a hotel."
"Capitano bought it for me. Enough chatter. Let’s go inside."
"C-Capitano?! You met him?!"
"Yes. We carried out a mission together last year. I still have some scars on my arms and legs—they’re from the injuries I received then."
It had actually been training, not a mission, but anyone who did not know that would probably think I had been through something rough.
"You went on a mission with Capitano... That’s been my lifelong dream... Hey, Sergei. Maybe we really ought to bring this kid into the Fatui?"
"Hmm... Could he even aim for a Harbinger seat...? I wouldn’t exactly welcome someone I raised ending up above me, though."
"When did you ever raise him...? You just gave him a name, that’s all."
"It’s just strange to think that the name I gave him might end up above me. Is this what they call ‘the student surpassing the master’ in Liyue?"
I had cleaned the place and bought furniture a few months ago, but since no one had been living here, dust had settled again, and the house was silent.
"Um... Avrora? Are we really sleeping here? I’m kind of scared."
"I got it cheap because it was a distressed property, but it’s decent enough."
"Did someone die here or something? A distressed property... That’s a little unsettling."
Sergei complained as he spoke.
"Even the realtor wouldn’t tell me exactly what happened. Let’s open all the windows and start by dusting."
We bought masks and cleaning supplies from the nearby stalls. Then we threw open every door and window and got to work cleaning.
While cleaning the living room, Angelina spotted the fireplace.
"There’s a fireplace? Cleaning that will be a pain..."
"Then let’s clean it a little and leave it at that. It’s not like we’ll be using it anyway."
"We’re only staying for two nights, so I guess we don’t need to worry too much about it."
The cleaning we had started at noon was finished in two hours, and I lay on the bed in an upstairs room, sorting through my thoughts.
Let’s see... Furina was probably tearing apart the entire Court of Fontaine looking for me by now, right? The Bouf d’ete Residence was registered under my name, but she was not the sort of person who would notice that and track me down. Focalors, maybe, but Furina was probably clueless about this sort of thing. Definitely.
Sergei and Angelina were fighting downstairs again. Sergei wanted to drink, and Angelina was trying to stop him.
"Hey, hey, hey! Why are you drinking again?! We came here to keep an eye on that little kid!"
"That kid was locked up in the House of the Hearth and probably has never even seen the Court of Fontaine. Angelina, take him out somewhere for a drink. I’ll just have some alcohol and lie down."
"Tch! You’re dumping the troublesome work on me so you can scratch your belly and sleep? That’s why you turned into such a pig, and why your dick is so sma—"
"Can you stop talking about that already?!"
It seemed the "small pepper" joke I had made before we left had really caught on with Angelina. She would probably milk it for the next ten years.
I brought myself some buttered bread and coffee for a late lunch. The two Fatui agents kept bickering regardless of what I was eating. They seemed pretty close.
"Um... Why do you two fight so much?"
"Ah... You’re curious about our relationship? I first met Sergei here in the Fatui, and we’ve been working together ever since. Has it been about ten years now?"
"You know Avrora here? When they first told the Fatui to form teams, she was curled up in a corner, keeping quiet. So then I—"
"Hey! Stop talking about the old days!"
It must have been a particularly embarrassing memory. As I continued listening to their Fatui stories, someone knocked on the door.
Knock, knock.
"Huh? Who could that be? The only people who know this place are the three of us and Capitano, aren’t they?"
"That’s true... I’ll go check."
I opened the door, saying, "Who is it?" And standing there was...
"Ta-da~ I have arrived~! It’s been a while, Avro—"
Bang!
I slammed the door shut. This bitch... How did she know to find me here?
"What?! Are you ignoring me?! Wait! Open the door!"
When I opened it again, there stood a massive walking disaster: Furina, the source of this entire mess.
"Hey, Avrora? She seems to be your friend... Is it really okay to shut her out like that?"
"That bitch is not my friend."
"Ooh. That sounded just like Angelina. You learn fast."
"By the way, you had a friend in the Court of Fontaine? Weren’t you an orphan with nobody in the world?"
Ha... This is driving me insane...
"Hey! Open the door already! Someone might see me! I snuck out!"
"Sigh... I’ll go deal with her outside... Are you coming with me?"
"Hmm... No... I don’t think we need to follow you..."
"I agree. She’s way too high-energy for me."
"Didn’t you come here to watch me? Is it really okay not to follow me?"
"We trust you, Avrora. You’re not the kind of person who would abandon someone."
When Sergei said that, Angelina nodded as well.
"Of course, it was a little scary when you awakened your Vision. The kid suddenly got so hot..."
"That was already years ago..."
While we were lost in memories, the banging on the door continued.
"Sniff... Hurry... Open the door..."
"Hey, Avrora, she’s crying. Go take her away already."
"Yes... All right..."
I opened the door. Furina was crouched there, crying. That little brat was making me feel guilty for no reason.
"Fine... Let’s get out of here. Nothing good will come of you and me staying here."
Furina stopped crying, took my hand, and walked with me toward a café. Her face was puffy from how much she had cried.
"Sniff... Why wouldn’t you open the door...? Do you know... how long I wandered around... trying to find that house...?"
"So? How did you know where I was? I came here without telling you anything."
"I looked through the list of people who had booked hotels, but your name wasn’t there. So I checked the realtors just in case, and found a house under your name... So..."
"You saw my name and just came straight to that house?"
Nod, nod.
Furina nodded.
Sigh, this idiot... Still, it had been three months since we last met. Furina must have had plenty to say, and I had a whole lot of feelings bottled up too. An absurd amount, in fact...
"Furina? Will you come behind the café with me for a moment?"
"H-Huh? Why? All of a sudden?"
I took Furina’s hand and led her around the back of the café.
"Um... Avrora... I’m not really confident about this kind of situation..."
"Furina...?"
"Yes... Avrora..."
1. Go along with Furina.
"Are you ready?"
"Yes... I’m ready..."
2. Lift Furina up.
"Huh? Why are you suddenly picking me up?"
3. Lay Furina facedown across my lap.
"Avrora? What is this position? I have a bad feeling about this..."
4. Spank her ass fucking hard.
Thwack!
"Aah!!! Why are you hitting me?!"
5. Keep spanking her hard.
Thwack! Thwack! Thwack!
"Aah! Stop hitting me! Why are you hitting me—mmph!"
Furina’s voice was too loud, so I covered her mouth with my hand and continued spanking her ass. At last, the time for revenge had come.
"Do you! Have any idea! How much! You made me suffer?!"
"Mmph! Mmph-mmph!!"
"You! Moved up! The bar exam! By six whole months! And ruined! All my plans!"
Thwack! Thwack! Thwack!
Putting the stamina I had gained from my Vision into it, I was turning Furina’s ass as red as a baboon’s. Of course, I did not strip her. Hitting her over her clothes made a satisfying sound too.
"Huff... Huff..."
After spanking her for quite a while, I was exhausted and let Furina go. She clutched her ass and cried on the ground.
"Sniff... I... I only did it... because I wanted to see you sooner, Avrora..."
"We could have met six months later anyway! But you moved up the bar exam?! It hurt everyone else too!"
"But... but...! I don’t want to meet anyone but you..."
"And yet you put on a year-end performance? Didn’t you get pelted with tomatoes too?!"
"But!! The year-end performance was something I’d always done...!! And I never thought tomatoes would get thrown at me..."
Perhaps it was the first time tomatoes had ever been thrown at her, because Furina burst into even harder tears as she recalled that day.
"Sigh... Get up for now... Let’s go back to the café..."
"Okay..."
Having completed my grand revenge, Furina and I went back to the café and ordered. I only got a milk tea, while Furina ordered every kind of dessert and a frappuccino. Was she not worried about getting diabetes?
"So...? How did you move it up by six months? I’m guessing Neuvillette opposed it fiercely."
"Of course he opposed it. Changing something that had continued for a hundred years was too risky, after all."
"Naturally."
"So I drank only water for three days and refused to leave my room. Neuvillette got angry and told me to stop already, then reluctantly changed it for me. Holding back my appetite was re~ally hard, you know."
In other words, she had gone on a hunger strike because she was sulking that no one would listen to her. The thought of Furina not eating must have shocked Neuvillette.
"Did you tell Neuvillette about me?"
"No? I didn’t. Why would I bring you up? You only need to know me. And I only need to see you."
This girl... She had it bad. Not on Peruere’s level... but judging from how she had looked ready to kiss me before I spanked her, it seemed she had already made up her mind deep down.
"So, Avrora, where are you taking the exam tomorrow?"
"Where am I taking it? Let’s see... My exam slip is in my bag, but if I remember right, it’s at the Dvor Hotel."
"The Dvor Hotel? That’s where people with Visions take their exams. Avrora, you... have a Vision?"
"Huh? That’s where they gather people with Visions? I had no idea."
"What element is your Vision? Hydro? It’s Hydro, right?"
Furina leaned toward me expectantly. But unfortunately...
"It’s Pyro."
Furina looked so shocked that I could practically hear a bell ringing. If it had been Hydro, she probably would have said we were destined for each other.
"Anyway... I’m taking the exam at the Dvor Hotel. Since you’re the Hydro Archon, I suppose you’ll be observing the exam... maybe?"
"Me? You mean me? Normally, Neuvillette is supposed to observe the exam..."
Furina sank into a gloomy mood. Looking at it this way, Neuvillette really was the actual Hydro Archon. But shortly afterward, the antenna-like strand on Furina’s head sprang up, and she struck a pose as though she had just thought of something brilliant. I had a feeling this was about to become annoying.
"I need to go to Neuvillette right now and apply to be a proctor at the Dvor Hotel! Surely he’ll approve it, right? Hehehe~"
"Like hell he will. What blockhead applies to proctor an exam the day before it starts?"
"Grrr! You called me a blockhead! Just you wait! Tomorrow, Furina de Fontaine herself will walk in magnificently and hand out your exam papers!"
"Sure, sure. Whatever you say, human."
"Eek!"
Furina suddenly shrank in on herself. I had only used the word human to tease her, but did it bother her that much?
"Um... Please refrain from using that word when there are people around... It’s fine when we’re alone..."
"All right. I promise."
"Someday... when I succeed in adopting you... and the day comes when the two of us live alone in Palais Mermonia... I think that would be really wonderful..."
This girl... She was already getting ahead of herself. I keep telling you, that is never going to happen.
"Oh... It’s gotten pretty late. I should head back before Neuvillette says something."
"Yeah. The sun is already setting."
I had been so busy spanking her ass that I had lost track of time. By now, I needed to go back and eat dinner. Those two Fatui agents would be worried too.
"Then... Avrora? See you tomorrow?"
"Sure... if there’s a reason to."
"I’ll make one... I definitely will..."
I had never seen Furina look so determined to accomplish something, aside from the prophecy in the story. Did she really want to have me that badly...?
That was how we parted ways, and I returned to the Bouf d’ete Residence.
It looked like Sergei had prepared sausages and roasted sunflower seeds. Those were pretty tasty.
"You’re back, Avrora. Have fun with your friend?"
"Yes. I had a very good time."
I really had had a very good time. I felt like I could get addicted to spanking ass.
"Eat dinner and get to bed early tonight. We have to leave in the morning."
"Yes, understood."
And so, the two adults and one child spent an "ordinary" time sitting around the table and eating together.
