What is evil? Nietzsche said that anything born of weakness is evil.
Chen Ze, a college student who had stayed up all night playing League of Legends, was reborn into another world just as the enemy Yasuo claimed a pentakill and his own team's Nexus was destroyed.
As a hungry little blond baby crying to be fed.
At first, Chen Ze thought he had simply dropped dead from overwork and been reincarnated. It was not until his parents named him Kakeru Ryuen that he realized the truth: he had not been reborn. He had transmigrated into another person's body.
Sixteen years passed in the blink of an eye. During those sixteen years, Ryuen had done nothing but start businesses, train himself, and chase girls—all in preparation for entering Advanced Nurturing High School.
Advanced Nurturing High School was one of Japan's most prestigious high schools. It supposedly boasted a one-hundred-percent employment rate; as long as one graduated successfully, an ideal job would be guaranteed. That was what the brochure claimed, anyway. As for whether graduating would actually be so easy, Ryuen had his doubts.
The original Ryuen had dreamed of becoming an entrepreneur, and Chen Ze had already made that dream a reality for him. Now that he was entering Advanced Nurturing High School, Ryuen had only one objective: lead Class C all the way up to Class A.
Before school began, Ryuen got a haircut and tied his hair into a wolf-tail ponytail, modeled after Michinaga Azuma's look in Kamen Rider Geats. He looked far more refreshed now.
On the bus, Ryuen sat in the aisle seat of a two-person row. He could have had a driver take him to school, but then he would have missed the entertainment on the bus.
Kikyo Kushida, Suzune Horikita, Kiyotaka Ayanokoji, and Rokusuke Koenji. Four faces both familiar and unfamiliar.
Wearing her harmless, innocent expression, Kushida asked Koenji whether he could give up his seat for an elderly passenger. Naturally, Koenji refused. While Kushida was still awkwardly trying to figure out what to do, Ryuen stood up and resolved the situation for her, casually taking up a spot right beside her.
As for those defective products from Class D, each of them had their own reason for refusing to give up their seat. In the end, though, they were just selfish excuses from a bunch of self-interested people.
Of course, Ryuen had not surrendered his seat out of kindness. It was merely a small tactic to get closer to Kushida.
"Thank you."
Kushida politely thanked him.
Ryuen accepted her gratitude without the slightest shame. "Hello. I'm Kakeru Ryuen from Class 1-C. Nice to meet you."
"I'm Kikyo Kushida from Class 1-D. Nice to meet you too."
As she introduced herself, Kushida gave a slight bow. Looking closely, she really was beautiful: bright eyes, flawless teeth, soft pink lips, and a lovely face. Her figure was excellent, too. Ayanokoji definitely had not lost out by leaving a handprint on her in the original story. If Ryuen had not preferred girls with long, straight black hair, Kushida's looks would have scored higher than Horikita's.
"What do you think of the new school, Ryuen? I'm really looking forward to it. I hope I can become friends with everyone," Kushida said, striking up a conversation.
"The next three years are bound to be very interesting."
Ryuen wore a smile that meant nothing obvious. Even Kushida, so skilled at putting on an act, failed to spot anything unusual in it.
"You know, Kushida, you're kind of strange."
Looking at her harmless little face, Ryuen felt like teasing her. Sure enough, the moment she heard his words, Kushida's smile visibly froze. It looked distinctly unnatural, as though she suspected that Ryuen had seen through her facade.
"Huh? Is there something strange about me?"
She recovered quickly.
"Of course there is. Who actually looks forward to the first day of school? I heard there'll be an entrance exam, so I stayed up late studying last night."
"What? There's an entrance exam? Oh no!"
Kushida looked completely caught off guard. Apparently, she had not prepared at all.
Watching Kikyo Kushida panic, Ryuen laughed. "I'm messing with you. I just stayed up late playing games. If there really were an exam, why wouldn't the school have told us in advance?"
"Ryuen!"
"Sorry, sorry."
Kushida's fake smile had shifted into an adorably irritated expression. Ryuen found it surprisingly fun to mess with her like this.
"You're unexpectedly devious, Ryuen."
Once Kushida realized that Ryuen had not seen through her act, she visibly relaxed and put her harmless expression back on.
"I'm much more than just devious. Looking forward to our next meeting."
The bus arrived at Advanced Nurturing High School, and Ryuen was the first one off.
Staring at the school's gates, he could barely contain his excitement.
"It's finally beginning."
