Chapter 81: The Night of Walpurgis (2)

Walpurgis began with Clayman's declaration.

Clayman wore a triumphant smile as he explained the current situation, but aside from Ramiris and Rimuru, most of the demon lords present—including me—showed little interest in what he had to say.

To summarize his argument, Demon Lord Carrion had supposedly incited Rimuru to proclaim himself a demon lord. He had stirred up the Kingdom of Falmuth into invading the Great Forest of Jura. Then, under the pretext of opposing that threat, Rimuru had asked for cooperation from the others and used that as an excuse to lay hands on humans.

After defeating the Kingdom of Falmuth, Rimuru had falsely claimed the title of demon lord, and Carrion was backing him from the shadows.

That kind of behavior, Clayman insisted, was a violation of the agreements established among the demon lords.

To those who knew the truth, it was nothing more than a petty accusation. Still, he had dressed it up in logic convincing enough that the other demon lords, who had no involvement in each other's affairs, had no grounds to judge whether his claims were true or false. Some of them might not even have considered it worth judging in the first place.

On top of that, Clayman testified that Rimuru had killed his subordinate Mjurran, and even put on a false performance claiming Rimuru and Carrion had tried to murder him as well.

Thanks to his quick wits, he was reading the room better than expected. Using the absent Carrion as evidence, he all but proposed that Rimuru be dealt with here and now.

Next, it was Rimuru's turn to respond, having come here as a guest.

In that instant, Rimuru's expression became as calm as water flowing across the earth, and he began refuting Clayman's claims with effortless fluency.
