Chapter 1: Prologue

In the abyss where the roots of the nine worlds entwine, at the deepest reaches of Yggdrasil, a colossal shadow descended.
The entity that appeared with a dimension-rending vibration was Níðhöggr, a draconic calamity whose scales were flecked with crimson.
But the awe-inspiring majesty was short-lived. The moment his feet touched the ground, a sharp voice pierced the air, loud enough to burst eardrums.
"Hey, you damn overgrown lizard! You finally crawled back? I guess you were real busy treating the entire universe like your personal living room, huh?!"
Emerging from between the roots was a small squirrel, Ratatoskr.
Despite his appearance as a mere ball of fluff, every time he opened his mouth, he unleashed a torrent of creative insults that would make even a Frost Giant weep.
Ratatoskr scurried up right to Níðhöggr's nose, fuming and pointing a finger.
"While I was stuck here gnawing on roots and cleaning up your messes, what planet were you on playing house with some females! You repulsive reptile!"
"Watch your mouth, you rodent. I'm Níðhöggr, the 'villain' who threatens the order of the entire universe."
Níðhöggr assumed his signature petulant expression and shifted into his human form.
He was now a strikingly handsome young man with jet-black hair and a toned, muscular build, radiating a lethal charm that could leave anyone dizzy.
With an air of annoyance, he pulled a glittering object from his pocket and tossed it to Ratatoskr.
"Here. Found it on the way back. A gift."
What Ratatoskr caught was an exquisitely crafted acorn-shaped jewelry box made of pure gold.
"Huh? This looks pretty damn expensive. Hey, Nid. Where'd you get this? Don't tell me you raided another planet?"
"Hmph. I am a villain. Naturally, I acquired it through... legitimate payment. I bought it."
As Níðhöggr spoke with pride, crossing his arms, Ratatoskr’s eyes narrowed.
