Mechamaru, a second-year student at Kyoto Jujutsu High. His real name was Muta Kokichi.
He was a sorcerer with a Heavenly Restriction, born with congenital disabilities and a frail body in exchange for a technique range spanning all of Japan and immense cursed energy.
But he hated it.
Even if it meant giving up all of his jujutsu talent and becoming a non-sorcerer, he wanted a normal body. And so, he chose the path of a mole who sold Jujutsu High’s information.
One day, the humanoid cursed spirit Mahito came to him and demonstrated his own ability.
His technique, [Idle Transfiguration], could mold a human soul and reshape it into any form he desired.
He saw hope in that technique.
"There. [Idle Transfiguration]. That does it, right?"
He removed the countless medical devices attached to his body and rose to his feet.
For the first time in his life, he felt the ground beneath both feet.
"So we can kill him now, right? Geto."
"Of course. The promise bound by our vow has been fulfilled."
The moment the man called Geto gave his permission, Mahito immediately assumed a combat stance, while cursed spirits rose up to guard Muta.
At the same time, tremors began.
It was not an earthquake. During the brief instant their attention was drawn elsewhere, Muta Kokichi vanished under the escort of the cursed spirits.
"Did he run?"
"No. I already put up a curtain around this area. It’s not the kind he can escape just by making a break for it."
The instant he finished speaking, the underground facility they occupied collapsed.
A massive body smashed through the building and emerged aboveground.
It was the giant robot Mechamaru had spent his entire life continuously improving.
"Mode Absolute. [Ultimate Mechamaru: Mode Absolute], Unit Zero, activate!"
Geto and Mahito emerged from the crumbling building, looking faintly startled by its imposing presence.
"Is that cursed energy you’ve accumulated over all those years under your Heavenly Restriction? Going by output alone, you’re at special-grade level. Can you handle this, Mahito?"
"I’m more than enough on my own~"
And so, Mahito and Mechamaru’s battle began.
A fight between a sorcerer who had temporarily risen to special-grade level by expending a lifetime’s worth of accumulated cursed energy, and a special-grade cursed spirit.
The battle, which had gone back and forth, gradually began to turn against Mechamaru. Then, just as Mahito expanded his domain—
Crash
"Huh?"
The domain shattered with absurd ease the instant it was deployed.
Mahito quickly grasped what had happened to his domain.
He had already learned, during the battle at that high school against Itadori Yuji, that a domain was vulnerable to attacks from outside.
But they were in an isolated location, and outside, the curse user calling himself Geto was standing guard.
Furthermore, there was no sign that Mechamaru—Muta Kokichi—had broken their vow, so there should have been no way information about this place had leaked out.
Who could it be?
It did not take long to find the answer.
The remnants of the domain scattered away on the wind, and a brilliantly clear sky shone down upon them.
White hair, pale enough to send chills down one’s spine.
Azure eyes that glowed blue.
To modern cursed spirits and curse users, he was death itself.
The strongest.
"Mechamaru~ You still alive?"
"Gojo Satoru...!"
Heaven had descended.
"Hey, hey, what the hell is going on, Get—"
KABOOM
Without even realizing it, Mahito had allowed him to get close.
It looked like nothing more than a simple punch, but its power was beyond imagination.
Mahito’s right arm was blown away, and a massive hole opened in his abdomen.
He was still breathing, but after taking such severe damage immediately following the destruction of his domain, he would have difficulty moving for quite some time.
Having effectively rendered Mahito nearly unable to fight, Gojo Satoru spoke to Mechamaru.
"Mechamaru. We’ll talk later about you colluding with cursed spirits. For now, make sure you exorcise that rag-faced cursed spirit."
"Got it."
"Getting a little too casual, aren’t we?"
"Y-Yes, sir."
Gojo Satoru usually treated his students informally, but this time he had come to investigate the suspicion that Mechamaru was a mole. His tone was therefore somewhat stern and firm.
As Mechamaru headed off to finish Mahito, who was on the verge of death, Gojo Satoru turned his gaze toward the one person left on the battlefield.
"H-Hey. Long time no see...!"
"Cut the bullshit, you fake."
He had already watched him through Minami’s hologram and sorted out his thoughts.
Gojo Satoru did not waver.
Perhaps sensing that resolve, Geto Suguru—or rather, Kenjaku, the sorcerer who had stolen and was using his body—moved at once.
Cursed spirits were summoned through [Cursed Spirit Manipulation].
He brought out every special-grade cursed spirit he should have saved for his future plans.
The special-grade cursed spirit Kurourushi.
The special-grade cursed spirit Ganesha.
The special-grade designated cursed spirit, the Smallpox Deity.
The special-grade vengeful cursed spirit, Wangro Akdaeeak.
Fighting Gojo Satoru at full strength had never been part of his plans. The moment they came face-to-face, it was only right to say that every one of those plans had gone awry.
For now, survival had to take priority.
That judgment was correct.
It was merely correct.
"Blue."
An enormous mass of infinity gathered at Gojo Satoru’s fingertips.
Glowing blue, it swelled in size in an instant before shooting toward the special-grade cursed spirits Kenjaku had summoned.
Screeeech!
Wangro Akdaeeak and Kurourushi vanished upon taking a direct hit from [Blue].
Ganesha, which had barely survived thanks to the destruction of the other two, fired its technique at Gojo Satoru.
A curse of an Asian god that removed every obstacle. It was a peculiar attack that entangled concepts with its technique’s target, but it did not work against Gojo, protected by [Limitless].
Gojo Satoru closed the distance using teleportation through [Limitless].
Unable to mount any proper response to his close-range barrage, Ganesha was exorcised.
But in the fleeting time bought as those cursed spirits died—
The Smallpox Deity expanded its domain.
Gojo Satoru was swallowed by the domain.
Kenjaku was aghast to see three special-grade cursed spirits he had carefully preserved disappear in the blink of an eye, but felt relieved when the Smallpox Deity’s domain was expanded.
Even Gojo Satoru had no choice but to answer a domain with a domain. Just as Kenjaku thought that he could somehow escape if Gojo’s technique burned out and he could no longer use Limitless—
Crash
Gojo Satoru appeared as the domain shattered.
The Smallpox Deity had already been exorcised and vanished.
And infinity was gathering at Gojo Satoru’s fingertips.
[Limitless] had not gone out.
"You’ve got to be kidding me. You monster...!"
The instant Gojo Satoru was trapped in the domain, he activated a Simple Domain.
After protecting himself from the sure-hit effect, he immediately eliminated the Smallpox Deity.
The time from the domain’s expansion to its destruction: just 1.2 seconds.
"[Hollow Technique: Purple]."
Kenjaku’s vision went dark at the sight of the killing blow flying toward him as though conversation were unnecessary.
