Chapter 3: Chapter 3

The Thousand Kingdom.

Sector 12.

The Throne of Heaven.

Caesar sat upon his throne, gazing at Ea’s display.

The massive screen, composed of shimmering blue light, summarized the events that had just transpired on the outskirts of Carne Village.

—Slane Theocracy: Sunlight Scripture annihilated.

—Gazef Stronoff: Survived.

—Witnesses: Partial memory deletion complete.

—Re-Estize Kingdom: Awareness of incident—extremely low.

—Probability of Slane Theocracy issuing an emergency alert:

70.09%.

Caesar moved his fingers in a quiet, rhythmic motion.

The gesture was less a command and more a correction.

It was the act of overwriting the existing sentences of the world’s flow with red ink, forcing a different conclusion.

The probability values shifted.

—Probability of Slane Theocracy issuing an emergency alert:

100%.

—Probability of Slane Theocracy convening a World Alliance:

100%.

A long silence descended upon the Throne of Heaven.

It was then that Michael approached his side.

With her white wings folded, she bowed her head in silence.

“What are you sketching, my Lord?”

Caesar did not answer immediately.

He simply smiled.

It was not a cold smile.

Nor was it a warm one.

Rather than an expression of emotion, that smile was closer to the silence of one who already knows the end of the story.

Caesar picked up an old document resting beside the throne.

He handed it to Michael.

The document did not belong to this world.

It was not parchment, nor was it a magical scroll.

It was a document from Earth, carrying the faint, nostalgic scent of aged paper.

From the time when Caesar was still human.

From the time when he was a scholar researching the world.

It was a thesis he had written back then.

Michael carefully turned the first page.

The title read:

「Power Gained Through Violence」

Michael’s eyes followed the text.

The thesis analyzed the process by which a human dictator acquires power.

The power vacuum.

The seizure of information.

The control of the military.

The right to investigate incidents.

The right to determine the truth.

The perpetuation of temporary authority.

And finally, the use of violence.

None of these items existed in isolation.

They were steps on a single staircase.

First, there was chaos.

Next, there was the pretext of resolving that chaos.

Behind the pretext stood the military.

Behind the military lay information.

Behind information was the power of investigation.

Behind the power of investigation was the authority to determine the truth.

And he who determines the truth eventually decides the very meaning of violence.

Caesar’s thesis argued as follows:

Power obtained through violence can seize reality quickly.

Violence breaks doors.

Violence silences dissenters.

Violence creates fear.

Fear moves humanity.

However, a regime built solely on violence eats away at its own legitimacy.

The moment one massacres the people to rule the people,

That power negates the very national pretext it put forward.

He who sheds blood to establish order ultimately proves that his order stands upon blood.

He who kills citizens to save the state reveals that his power was never for the state, but for himself.

And in that moment,

The opposition gains a stronger narrative.

The names of the victims.

The memories of the oppressed.

The blood of the dead.

The silence of the trampled.

Power attempts to erase all of these, yet paradoxically, they all become the language of resistance against that very power.

Michael turned to the final page.

At the end of the thesis, Caesar’s conclusion was written.

Violence that defies the era can grant power.

But violence without legitimacy cannot last.

Therefore, an eternal ruler must not be the subject of violence.

An eternal ruler must be the interpreter of violence.

Michael closed the document.

For a moment, she could say nothing.

Violence was not foreign to her.

The Thousand Kingdom possessed power.

An overwhelming, absolute power.

If they wished, they could erase a city.

If they wished, they could topple a kingdom in a single day.

If they wished, they could bring every nation of this world to its knees before the Thousand Kingdom.

But her Lord did not do that.

He always took the long way around.

No.

He chose a path that only appeared to be the long way.

He created incidents.

He sowed fear.

He induced reactions.

He made his opponents move of their own accord.

And at the final moment,

The Thousand Kingdom appeared like the inevitable answer.

Caesar was still looking at Ea’s screen.

The display no longer showed only the Slane Theocracy.

The Baharuth Empire.

The Re-Estize Kingdom.

The Roble Holy Kingdom.

The Argland Council State.

The Eastern Nations.

The Six Demi-Human Nations of the Center.

And countless other city-states, tribes, races, cults, and Dragon Lord factions.

The predicted reactions of all these powers were intertwined in a web of blue and red lines.

The world did not yet know of the Thousand Kingdom.

But soon, it would.

Through dread.

Through rumors.

Through councils.

Through alliances.

And eventually, through worship.

Caesar spoke in a low voice.

“Fear is the first sentence.”

His red eyes lingered on the phrase ‘Probability of World Alliance’ on the screen.

“But an Empire must possess the final sentence.”

Michael looked up.

Caesar continued slowly.

“And that final sentence… is legitimacy.”

Upon the Throne of Heaven,

Ea’s blue screen illuminated his face.

The light appeared divine.

Yet it was not the light of a god.

It was the light of calculation.

The light of information.

The light of a machine arranging truths, fixing possibilities, and predicting the world’s reactions.

Under that light, Caesar spoke.

“I shall become an existence with legitimacy, much like the medieval church.”

Michael did not fully comprehend the meaning of those words.

Medieval church.

Legitimacy.

Narrative.

Governance.

To Michael, these were merely archaic words of human civilization.

Fragile and cumbersome mechanisms humans had created to rule one another.

However, if her Lord had spoken them,

They were no longer archaic words.

They were the next order of the Thousand Kingdom.

Caesar did not despise human civilization.

He saw the weakness of human civilization.

At the same time, he saw the ancient power hidden within that weakness.

A sword can kill a human.

An army can occupy a city.

Magic can crumble a castle wall.

But that which binds the human heart forever was neither sword, nor army, nor magic.

It was meaning.

It was salvation.

It was the language of sin and forgiveness.

It was the interpretation of time.

Who is evil?

Who is the savior?

Who must be exiled from history?

Who must stand at the center of the new order?

The medieval church knew this.

The king held the sword, but the church gave the crown its meaning.

The monarch ruled the land, but the church justified that rule through the language of heaven.

The people hungered, but the church gave purpose to their suffering.

The people died, but the church explained the order that followed death.

Caesar desired that.

It was not mere conquest.

It was not mere fear.

It was not mere reign.

He intended to place the Thousand Kingdom above the heavens of this world.

Higher than any kingdom.

Deeper than any empire.

More enduring than any law.

An order more perfect than faith itself.

Michael immediately knelt.

She lowered her forehead to the black floor and folded both wings.

“O Ruler of Gods and Angels.”

Silence settled over the Throne of Heaven in Sector 12.

“O Sovereign of Time and Narrative.”

Her voice did not tremble.

It was a prayer.

It was an oath.

It was the obedience of a soldier awaiting orders.

“O Arbiter of Heaven, Earth, and Providence.”

Michael prostrated herself even deeper.

“May your reign be eternal.”

Caesar looked down at Michael from his throne.

He did not answer.

There was no need to answer.

Obedience had already been declared.

Commands were already descending upon the world.

In that moment,

Behind Caesar, the twelve sectors of the Thousand Kingdom lit up one by one.

Sector 1.

Sector 2.

Sector 3.

Sector 4.

Light surged from the bottom to the top.

The sectors of agriculture, fisheries, and livestock.

The sectors of mines and factories.

The sectors of wilderness and experimentation.

The sectors of weaponry and logistics.

The sectors of libraries and records.

The sectors of divine realms and constellations.

And finally,

Sector 12.

The Throne of Heaven.

The entire Thousand Kingdom glowed like a single, gargantuan altar.

In the record room of Alexandria, a new entry was created.

—Commencing Legitimacy Construction Phase.

—Subject:

The entire New World.

—Objective:

Convert incidents of fear into sacred narratives.

A new simulation sentence appeared on Ea’s screen.

—The fear of the Slane Theocracy shall summon a World Alliance.

—The World Alliance shall officially recognize the appearance of the Thousand Kingdom.

—Recognized hostility is, in itself, recognized existence.

—Recognized existence becomes the first foundation for building legitimacy.

Caesar’s smile did not fade.

The Thousand Kingdom had not yet moved.

The legions had not yet marched.

The angels had not yet drawn their swords.

The dimensional ships had not yet torn the sky asunder.

Yet the world was already in motion.

Fear moved.

Rumors moved.

Nations moved.

Temples moved.

Kings moved.

And at the center of all that movement was a single power whose name was not even properly known.

The Thousand Kingdom.

The New World had not yet seen the Thousand Kingdom.

But the New World had already entered the Thousand Kingdom’s narrative.
