Chapter 2: Chapter 2. Possession (2)

The stairs of the Infinity Castle seemed to stretch farther and closer with every step he took.

It was impossible to tell whether he was descending or climbing, and the doors were closed and open at the same time. The trembling of the strings decided the direction, and each time that tremor faded, a new line of pattern was drawn across the floor.

As if the world only finished forming after he stepped onto it.

He never hurried. But he never stopped, either. Six eyes pierced through the darkness to stare into the distance, while his fingertips idly brushed over the scabbard.

His breathing was deep and steady. There was still no scent of blood. Only the heavy fragrance of power seeped through the Infinity Castle, calling to him from every corner.

The final door folded back once, like a closing fan. The pattern on the floor spread red.

There, he was waiting.

It was a space without red moonlight.

And yet the figure before him seemed to become the moon itself, coloring everything around it. The white hand tapping the armrest came to a stop, and pink-tinged red eyes lifted their gaze. The expression was calm, but those eyes already belonged to someone who had reached a conclusion.
