The morning after the shock of battle training, the Class 1-A classroom buzzed with a different kind of energy than the day before.
Marumine Tori, who had been the hottest topic since yesterday, still reclined in the back by the window with his chin resting on his hand. Although the students no longer openly stared at him, their furtive glances and hushed whispers made it clear he was always on their minds.
Bakugo, in particular, exuded a fierce intensity from the early hours as he glowered at Tori, while Todoroki observed him quietly but with unyielding scrutiny.
"Ah… I’m tired," Tori thought to himself.
He groaned inwardly. His entire body ached from exerting himself yesterday, and all he could think about now was getting through this tedious homeroom so he could sneak a few moments of sleep during class.
At that moment, Aizawa entered the classroom, looking as disheveled as ever.
"Morning homeroom is starting. I have an announcement," he declared.
The classroom fell silent at his measured, sluggish tone.
"It may be sudden, but we need to elect a Class Representative by the end of today."
"Class reeeeeep!"
With that single, drowsy announcement from Aizawa, the previously tense atmosphere dissolved, and the room erupted into lively chatter as if the previous day’s events had been nothing more than a bad dream. The typical schoolyard spectacle for a Hero Course event ignited the long-suppressed high school desires of the students.
"Me! Me! I want it! The Class Rep position is meant for a manly leader who guides everyone!"
Kirishima sprang to his feet, clenching his fist as he shouted, prompting several students to cheer, "Ooh! Kirishima!"
"Me too! I’m the ultimate mood maker. If I’m Class Rep, I’ll kick off every morning with a hilarious joke!"
Kaminari banged his chest, unwilling to let his chance slip away.
"I—I promise that if you vote for me, I’ll make sure every girl’s skirt is trimmed to exactly thirty centimeters above the knee—gah!"
The moment Mineta Minoru shouted his absurd pledge with a lewd smile, Tsuyu from the next seat abruptly intervened, covering his mouth with a long tongue as she chided, "Mineta, please refrain from such low-class remarks first thing in the morning. Ribbit." Mineta was quickly dragged away amid his muffled protests.
In an instant, the classroom transformed into a chaotic marketplace—a cacophony of self-promotion and jeering.
"If I become Class Rep, everyone will get double servings at lunch!"
"Shut up, Sato! That’s just your personal wishful thinking!"
"Aoyama! You can’t be rep just because you sparkle!"
Each student brandished their own ambition for the coveted Class Representative title. Even Bakugo added his boisterous threat, kicking his desk as he roared, "Shut up, all of you! The Class Rep is obviously going to be me! Who else is even qualified?"
Amid the ruckus, Marumine Tori simply watched, his chin resting on his hand, as if the whole scene was a bothersome chore. The mere thought of being Class Representative filled him with dread at the prospect of endless duties and responsibilities. All he wished for was for the commotion to die down.
But just then, Mineta, having very nearly escaped Tsuyu’s reprimand, persisted in reciting his pledge.
"Skirt length… 30 centimeters… This is a step forward for men’s rights and a boost for our school’s aesthetics—"
At that precise moment, Tori’s half-lidded eyes, previously indifferent, suddenly flew open.
Within them flickered a pure and intense spark of desire—a light utterly distinct from the misdirected glint he had shown toward Todoroki the day before.
He leapt to his feet, and the rowdy chatter ceased in an instant as every eye fixed on him.
"Mineta!" he bellowed in a serious, resounding tone.
"Regarding your so-called noble proposal, I, Marumine Tori, am in complete agreement—!"
As he advanced, reaching out to seize Mineta’s hand, a sudden, sharp "thwack" rang out.
"Gwaagh?!"
An earphone jack from the adjacent seat had struck Tori squarely on the temple. A jolt of searing pain and electric punishment shot through him, prompting a blood-curdling scream as he crumpled to the floor.
"Has this pervert gone completely mad this morning?"
Jiro Kyoka looked down at him coolly with her arms crossed, her earphone jack still lodged in his temple.
"People like you shouldn’t even be allowed to vote," she remarked icily.
"Ugh… No to violence… This is nothing short of suppressing a legitimate expression of political will!" someone protested.
Tori groaned while clutching his throbbing head.
Laughter soon spilled around the room at the unfolding slapstick, and Aizawa sighed deeply as he observed the chaos. "I have to endure three years with these kids…" he thought, his weariness intensifying.
"Quiet," Aizawa commanded in a low tone, and just like that, the clamor subsided.
"We can’t waste any more time on this. We’ll decide by vote. Everyone, write down one name on a piece of paper and hand it in. Feel free to vote for yourself," he instructed.
With rational resolve, the students each produced a slip of paper and began writing.
For a long moment, the only sound in the room was the scratching of pencils on paper as each student carefully—or perhaps selfishly—chose a name.
Without a moment's hesitation, Tori scribbled "Mineta Minoru" on his ballot, a gesture meant to honor his own paradoxical sense of duty.
After a while, Iida collected the ballots and began tallying the votes on the chalkboard.
The results were unexpected.
"Marumine Tori: 4 votes"
"Yaoyorozu Momo: 3 votes"
"Todoroki Shoto: 2 votes"
"Others: 8 votes (1 each)"
"Abstentions: 3 votes"
"Wh… what?!"
"Tori got four votes? Who in their right mind would vote for a guy like him?"
"Wasn’t that just a joke?"
Murmurs spread throughout the room, and even Tori wore a look of bewilderment.
"Why me?" he wondered silently, genuinely curious about which four eccentric classmates had cast their votes his way.
His eyes drifted naturally toward Jiro. She flinched and quickly averted her gaze, then began whistling softly. Her ears were tinged with a slight blush, and her reddened earlobes betrayed her inner thoughts.
"That girl… No way," he thought. Could it be because of yesterday? Had she been impressed by his petty strategy? Tori was dumbfounded.
The fourth vote came from an unexpected source: Yaoyorozu Momo. Upon catching his eye, she offered a slight smile and a nod, silently affirming that she respected his strategic flair.
"This woman is crazy too…" Tori muttered, his head in his hands. That accounted for two votes, leaving two unaccounted for. It certainly wasn’t Kirishima or Kaminari, and there was no way Iida had voted for him. The remaining votes likely came from the girls—who probably saw him as nothing more than a pervert.
As Marumine shifted his gaze, he caught Mineta’s eyes. Without a word, Mineta flashed him a thumbs-up—a gesture that horrified Marumine.
"No!!!!!!!!!! Mineta!!!!!!!!!!" he thought bitterly. No, he hadn’t meant that he wanted the position; he meant that Mineta should take it! He never expected his so-called admirer of girls to be so brazen.
As Marumine turned his head further, his gaze finally settled on a quiet corner of the classroom where Todoroki Shoto sat expressionlessly. The proud, recommended student who had bested him the day before now spoke volumes with his eyes.
"I'm the one who put in that vote."
"Oh, for heaven’s sake," Tori murmured.
He quickly assessed the situation:
Jiro.
Yaoyorozu.
Mineta.
Todoroki.
Those were the four decisive votes!
"Four votes—impressive! You really are a natural leader, Marumine," someone exclaimed.
Iida clapped his hands, gracefully accepting his own defeat—a gesture that soon influenced the rest of the class.
"It can’t be helped. It’s the will of the majority."
"Marumine as Class Rep? I can’t even imagine it."
"But during battle training, he sure showed he’s smart."
Before long, the mood shifted toward accepting him as their Class Representative.
This was a catastrophe. Tori knew he had to break this terrible momentum and decided to pull out his final card.
Striding confidently toward the teacher’s lectern, he cleared his throat once before forcing on the most sinister, self-deprecating grin he could muster and shouted:
"Ahem! I would like to sincerely thank all of you for voting for me—Marumine Tori! Now that I’m Class Rep, I won’t let you down! And first on my agenda is…!"
Glancing over at Mineta as if drawing strength from his own legacy, he continued with grim determination,
"…to standardize every female uniform’s skirt to just above the knee!"
WHACK!
Before he could finish his sentence, something solid struck the back of his head. This time, it wasn’t an earphone jack but a hefty encyclopedia that Yaoyorozu had conjured with her Quirk.
"Gwaagh!"
Tori collapsed onto the floor, stars whirling above his head.
"As the Deputy Class Representative, I will immediately curtail any low-class remarks from the Class Representative," declared Yaoyorozu, who had secured three votes to become deputy. She glared at him with ice-cold detachment, the book in her hand still practically steaming.
Stumbling to his feet despite his battered state, Tori realized this approach had only drawn more ire from the model student. Desperate, he staggered toward Aizawa, who stood behind the lectern, and pleaded in a tone that betrayed his earnest anxiety:
"Aizawa..."
In an uncharacteristically deferential tone, he added, "Isn’t it a bit much for someone like me to be Class Rep?"
His voice carried no pretense—only raw desperation. "You see, I’m lazy, unreliable, and my conduct isn’t exactly exemplary. How can someone like me possibly lead a class? This is a clear misjudgment. Even now, I beg you—revoke this vote..."
Aizawa regarded him with tired eyes, as if every word could tilt the balance of fate.
"Be quiet," he finally said.
"This, too, is the result," Aizawa added softly.
Defeated, Tori sank into despair.
"I already know what kind of person you are. But regardless, your classmates chose you—whether out of respect, curiosity, or a mere whim. What matters is that you now bear their expectations," Aizawa stated, leaning back in his chair as a slight, almost devilish smile played at the corner of his mouth.
"Show me your way, Marumine. It will be quite entertaining to see how you lead this class. Consider it part of your education," he concluded.
Utterly defeated, Tori realized he was now officially shackled by the most troublesome of responsibilities—the role of Class Representative for Class 1-A, U.A. High School Hero Course.
The thought of endless meetings, reports, event preparations, and mediating conflicts among his classmates was nothing short of horrifying.
Weary in both body and spirit, he returned to his seat where, on his desk, lay the thick book Yaoyorozu had just hurled at him. Its cover, emblazoned in gold lettering, read:
[On the Dignity and Qualities of a Leader]
Tori fought the urge to grab the book and toss it out the window.
His once-peaceful high school life was now, without a doubt, completely over.
Beside him, Yaoyorozu energetically explained her plans and resolutions on behalf of the Class Rep, while in a corner, Bakugo glowered at him with murderous intent.
"Haah..."
With a heavy sigh, Tori slumped over his desk, wishing only to sink into an endless sleep.
