Chapter 161: Those Who Face God (12)

After being beaten half to death by Kyrios under the guise of training, I spent the following day conducting a status check.

Currently, the Fables I possess consist of 2 Historical, 27 Legendary, 6 Semi-Myth, and 4 Myth-grade stories. Including the 3 Fable fragments, I have a total of 39+3.

With this much, I should be able to hold my own against most average Constellations. However, there was one problem.

[The Fable ‘Sword of Death’ quietly awaits the vesper bell.]

[The Fable ‘Berserker of Gacha’ screams ‘Gacha Gacha Gacha!’]

[The Fable ‘Owner of the Holy Spear’ looks at its master and doubts his status.]

[The Fable ‘One Who Defeated the Rebel Knight’ desires a bloody battle.]

[The Fable ‘Successor of Fafnir’ bares its teeth at you.]

[The Fable ‘Terror of Demons’ wants you to take the heads of demon species.]

[The Fable ‘Unending Festival of Dreams’ desires a new festival.]

[The Fable ‘One Who Smashed the Dokkaebi’s Head’ throws a tantrum, wanting to smash a new Dokkaebi’s head.]

[The Fable ‘Antagonist of the Calamity’ wants you to defeat the calamity immediately.]

[The Fable ‘Savior of the Calamity’ shakes its head at the words of ‘Antagonist of the Calamity’ and urges you to save the calamity.]

[The Fable ‘Father of the Fire Dragon’ tells you to go and take care of Ignir.]

[The Fable ‘One Who Defeated the Child of Sorrow’ repeatedly says it is sad while strumming its strings.]

[The Fable ‘Antagonist of the Round Table’ wants you to fight.]

[Several Fables complain that you are neglecting them too much.]

Perhaps it was because I had obtained too many Fables too quickly from the start? These guys had started a collective riot.

[Yuseong-ssi, are you alright?]

[Yuseong... are you okay?]

Maiuri and Rinne, who were watching the situation from within the wall, looked at me with slightly worried expressions and asked, but I sat in a cross-legged position without being able to hear their voices.

(“Phenomenon and truth are not the same thing. To properly use a Fable means to understand the phenomenon in your own language.”)

(“A solid foundation to leap toward the abstract. That is the ‘detail’ of the Fable you must accumulate.”)

(“Fables are not something that can be controlled.”)

(“Fables sometimes try to dominate us, but they also sometimes show us the way.”)

Recalling the words of Yoo Hosung, the ‘One-Punch Invincible’ from the original Omniscient Reader, I struggled to control the Fables.

Occasionally, I heard Han Sooyoung asking what I was doing, saw Kim Dokja mumbling something as he watched me, and felt as though Kyrios was saying something while observing me.

[Your senses are rising to the limit.]

[Your Fables begin to look at you.]

‘So, what are your complaints? Why don’t you all speak up today?’

At my words, the disgruntled ones among the Fables watching me began to voice their individual complaints.

[The Fable ‘King of Spirits’ says that although it was the first Fable born, its treatment has been poor.]

[The Fable ‘Warm Sunlight Beyond the Blizzard’ says the same applies to it.]

It was true. Those two were the first Fables born, and I hadn’t treated them very well....

‘I’m sorry. I’ve been neglecting you guys.... I’ll try to treat you better from now on.’

[The two Fables quietly nod at your words.]

[The Fables ‘Cherry Blossoms Blooming in Paradise’ and ‘Spring of Paradise’ ask if Rinne’s treatment isn’t too poor.]

[E-Eh... what are you guys suddenly talking about!?]

[The Fables ‘Cherry Blossoms Blooming in Paradise’ and ‘Spring of Paradise’ say that Rinne has barely appeared lately and it feels like she is being excluded.]

[Ugh.....]

Rinne fell silent at the words of the two Fables, and after hearing them, I spoke to her.

‘Rinne, I’m sorry. I haven’t treated you well lately, have I? I’m really sorry.’

[N-No.... To begin with, I’m just grateful that you look after me this way in a world like this.]

I laughed internally at Rinne’s words, and Maiuri, who was watching us, spoke up.

[Yuseong, you haven’t forgotten your promise to kiss me, right? Be prepared after this scenario is over.]

‘....Ah...’

I had completely forgotten about the promise to kiss Maiuri, but being reminded by her words, I silently prayed that no strange events would occur and continued listening to the Fables.

[The Fable ‘Terror of Demons’ says it wants to decapitate demon species.]

‘That’s on hold. There aren’t any demons right now, are there? I’ll use you when the time comes to fight them.’

[The Fable ‘Terror of Demons’ nods and says it will wait.]

[The Fable ‘One Who Opposes Miracles’ says it has no particular complaints but asks if you remember that Returnee.]

‘Of course I remember. Myeongil-sang, that bastard... I’m still wondering how he obtained the power of an Another Rider.’

I replied to the Fable, expressing my curiosity about the power of Another Brave that Myeongil-sang had wielded.

[The Fable ‘Unending Festival of Dreams’ says it wants to hold a festival.]

‘Don’t worry, I’ll hold a festival after this scenario ends.’

[The Fable ‘Berserker of Gacha’ says it wants to do a gacha!]

‘Let’s do the gacha later. No matter how many coins we have, we don’t know when we might need them.’

[The Fable ‘Savior of the Glass Slipper’ gazes into a mirror and says it doesn’t want much, just to be told it is pretty.]

‘You’re pretty.’

[The Fable ‘Savior of the Glass Slipper’ is satisfied.]

[The Fable ‘Savior of the Calamity’ says it’s having a hard time because it wants to save the calamity, but ‘Antagonist of the Calamity’ insists on killing it.]

[The Fable ‘Antagonist of the Calamity’ says the calamity must be killed.]

‘.....Of course, calamities should be killed... but among them, there are those like the older Shin Yuseung who must be saved. Can you understand?’

[The Fable ‘Antagonist of the Calamity’ slowly nods at your words and apologizes first while looking at ‘Savior of the Calamity’.]

[The Fable ‘Savior of the Calamity’ agrees with your words and also apologizes while nodding at ‘Antagonist of the Calamity’.]

[The Fable ‘Father of the Fire Dragon’ tells you to take good care of Ignir.]

‘Of course, I’ll take good care of him.’

[The Fable ‘One Who Defeated the Rebel Knight’ wants you to go wild.]

‘I’ll go wild later when we fight the snake.’

After resolving most of the complaints from the Fables to some extent, only three remained...

[The Fable ‘Sword of Death’ awaits the vesper bell.]

[The Fable ‘Owner of the Holy Spear’ doubts your status.]

[The Fable ‘Successor of the Evil Dragon Fafnir’ looks at you greedily.]

One had no particular complaint against me but was just staying quiet because its original owner was who he was; another was still doubting whether I was suitable to be its master; and the last one was a problem simply by existing.

‘Just give up already.... You can’t beat me anyway, can you?’

[The Fable ‘Successor of the Evil Dragon Fafnir’ growls at you and bares its greedy teeth.]

‘Do you want my body that badly? But what do you even want to do once you have it?’

[The Fable ‘Successor of the Evil Dragon Fafnir’ remains silent.]

The Fable ‘Successor of the Evil Dragon Fafnir’ was an story I obtained during my fight with King Arthur when I managed an incomplete Dragonification and took on a dragon-human form; Fafnir’s greed, knowledge, and wisdom were embedded within this Fable.

Well, thanks to that, I wasn’t particularly blinded by things like the Rhine Gold like the original Fafnir was.... but I didn’t know it would annoy me like this.

‘So for what purpose are you telling your story? How do you intend to fill that bottomless greed? For what purpose do you continue your tale!?’

[The Fable ‘Successor of Fafnir’ remains silent.]

‘...Come with me. I’ll show you a story that will satisfy your greed.’

[The Fable ‘Successor of Fafnir’ asks if you are serious.]

‘Of course I’m serious... So, let’s go together.’

[The Fable ‘Successor of Fafnir’ glares at you and says it will devour you if the story does not satisfy it.]

‘Try it if you can. Do you really think you can beat me?’

[The Fable ‘Successor of Fafnir’ grinds its greedy teeth and tells you to wait and see.]

Having resolved that one’s complaint—if it could be called that—I realized there was nothing more I could do, so I opened my eyes. It seemed Kyrios had gone somewhere for a moment.

Confirming this, Kim Dokja immediately approached Han Sooyoung and spoke.

"Hey, let's run away."

Han Sooyoung, appearing puzzled by Kim Dokja's words, jumped up from her seat along with Asuka Ren and asked.

"What? Did you learn everything? You couldn't do anything a while ago."

“I stole it all.”

Kim Dokja gave a sly smile toward me, Han Sooyoung, and Asuka Ren, then closed his eyes tightly and began to chant something.

Bzzzzt! Crackle!

Then, intense white-blue lightning sparked around Kim Dokja, and his entire body transformed into lightning.

It was Kyrios's secret technique and the skill I had already learned, [Electrification].

“You finally learned it...."

“To be precise, I stole it.... anyway, let's bounce now. We've mastered everything we needed to.”

Kim Dokja turned his head to look at me and spoke.

"Let's head out, Kang Yuseong-ssi."

"Got it. Oh, wait a second...."

I immediately wrote a letter to leave for Kyrios, fixed it firmly so it wouldn't blow away in the wind, and then returned to the group.

"Now that everything's done, let's go quickly!"

Soon, we moved quickly toward Veronica Castle using the Thunder God’s Art.

To Master Kyrios:

I am descending the mountain now to go beat the snake that is trying to destroy this planet.

We will definitely kill the snake ourselves.

Your disciple, Kang Yuseong

*P.S. The reason we are leaving so suddenly is that Kim Dokja told us to run away while Master was gone. This is entirely Kim Dokja's fault and I am not involved in the slightest, so please keep that in mind.
